What's the point of Dorne?

What's the point of Dorne if all Doran's plots are missing?

So, we have no (F)Aegon, no Arianne, no Quentin, no Darkstar, probably no Targaryen marriage contract, nothing. Why bring Dorne? Just as a treat to King's Landing? And why send Jaime there?

In the trailers, Jaime is seen seated with Doran Martell. It appears to be a friendly conversation, so even if he tries to kidnap Myrcella, probably she doesn't get hurt. So, since this series appears to be all about Dany, Jon and the Lannisters, maybe the reason is to advance Jaime's plot. Since Brienne is probably going to Winterfell after Sansa (from the trailers and the last two episodes) is Doran sending Jaime north? What possible commom interest Doran and Jaime have?

Trystane is betrothed to Myrcella. Joffrey is dead, Tommen's position is insecure. If Dorne gives up on murdering Myrcella, and secretly marries her to Trystane instead, they could be sitting the IT. This might even make Ellaria happy, as it would involve the deaths of Lannisters. In the novels, the Sand Snakes are sent to KL, most likely to take Cersei and Tommen down. This could happen in the show, too.

Dorne fought on the Targ side during Robert's rebellion. The show could make the novel Doran's dreams come true via an alliance with Dany.

The plan for Dany and/or Aegon plan to invade Westeros never made any sense at all, was never plausible, without significant support from within Westeros. Dorne has been earmarked as one of the likeliest sources of this support for quite a long time.

My guess is that the show is focusing on Dorne:

(a) to keep it in fresh in viewers' minds ahead of the link-up with the Targ invaders; and

(b) to provide some swashbuckling/action scenes to complement the season's more drama-based other really key plot, namely the Cersei/margaery stuff.

We really have no way of knowing. Robert expressed his fear more than once that if a Targaryen showed up, many would join him.

I'm not sure where everyone's getting this confidence that Aegon will factor in any way into the show, or that anyone from Dorne will be traveling to Meeree in an attempt to court Dany. The storylines are crowded enough as it is.

They've taken areo's long axe and butchered all the potential outcomes Dorne could have.

It's very likely they'll go with Tyrstanne = Aegon but jeez that's terrible terrible writing.

Myrcella "hey dad/uncle this is my betrothed Tyrstanne but he's secretly Aegon Targaryen. You know the baby your dad supposedly killed. I know you came here to save me to get back on track with my mum/aunt/your sister but hey would you abandon that and help Aegon and Daenerys out by ditching the Lannisters and your other children."

I think that Trystane will fill the role of (f)Aegon in that Trystane will lead an attack on Storm's End, whereas in the books it is (f)Aegon, and is fighting for Myrcella's claim as queen, to set himself up as the consort to the queen and the Martell heirs as the royal family. I do not think show Trystane is secretly Aegon Targaryen. The Vengeance, Justice, Fire and Blood reveal could be that he was betrothed to Daenerys, but with Trystane and Myrcella seemingly in love in the show, they could elope and get married and form another faction. Doran would support his son and heir no matter what, even if he is unhappy (no other Martell heirs).
