How the hell is that savage dimwit similar to Stannis? Apart from the fact that they're both younger siblings of rulers whom they resent but still obey from their positions in the navy, winning great victories and getting zero credit for them, finally competing with their siblings for the throne when the elder brother dies, allying with the Red God to gain their cause... ... Most of their core character traits may as well be opposites, and those that lead to similar outcomes (e.g serving their elder brothers) come from different places. Victarion is ultimately an obedient person, he's made to be subservient to people he hates and has no business serving, where his only resistance is to connive from beneath them. Whereas Stannis is dutiful, serving people when it's his responsibility to do so but otherwise being impossible to control or bully into submission. Both are decent dads..well, not as good as Ned, but compared to Tywin, Bolton, Hoster, Robert and Tarly, they're saints. Both are obsessive. Both are younger sons who obey their brothers. Viper is more of a 1 on 1 fighter, whereas Stannis is a commander. Viper is hot tempered and has more of Robert Baratheon personality than Stannis, Stannis has a temper but he doesn't typically let his own emotion cloud his vision from a tactical standpoint. Stannis ain't fucking 2 chicks at once and he wouldn't respect his own bastards nearly as much as Viper does.
