Moondog - Moondog (1969 full album)

this is freakin cool

wiki page on the man here is super awesome

Louis Thomas Hardin (May 26, 1916 – September 8, 1999), better known as Moondog, was an American composer, musician, poet and inventor of several musical instruments. He was blind from the age of 16. In New York from the late 1940s until he left in 1972, he could often be found on 6th Avenue between 52nd and 55th Street wearing a cloak and Viking-style helmet, sometimes busking or selling music, but often just standing silent and still. He was widely recognized as "the Viking of 6th Avenue" by thousands of passersby and residents who had no idea that this seemingly homeless eccentric standing on "Moondog's corner" was a respected and recorded composer and musician.

I am completely sold on the new Libertines track Gunga Din. Going by the lyrics and the Kipping poem it's named for they seem to have completely patched up their differences and put the past behind them. A forward looking Libertines album night well be a thing of beauty

Pixies - Gigantic

Madness - Lovestruck

Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Snow Patrol - Signal Fire

Graceland by Paul Simon, and Every Picture Tells A Story by Rod Stewart, both entirely for the first time. I love 'em.

Graceland is a great album, been listening to it a lot in the last year.

So, we're right around halfway through the year, and I gotta say I think the caliber of outstanding albums released so far has been really impressive-- absolutely slating last year's.

Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I Sit and Think, Sometimes I Just Sit

Pedestrian At Best

(So far my favorite album this year. Seriously, anyone not rocking this constantly is missing out in a big way)

Sleater-Kinney - No Cities To Love

Price Tag

Viet Cong - Continental Shelf

Silhouettes

Marina & The Diamonds - Froot

Froot

Thee Oh Sees - Mutilator Defeated At Last

Turned Out Light

Kamasi Washington - The Epic

The Message

Other favorites, if not best of status:

Jaime xx - In colour

Loud Places

Moon Duo - Shadows of the Sun

Animal

Purity Ring - Another Eternity

Pushpull

And looking forward to second half releases from Kurt Vile, Grimes, Lana Del Rey, (eta:) John Grant, Chelsea Wolfe (!) and a bunch of other stuff.

No question. She's a phenomenal lyricist and her style is irresistible.

Evergrey - Rulers of the mind

Heh, I woke up this morning with Evergrey in my head so I'm now listening to this. Excited about seeing them live at ProgPower USA in a couple of months!

Oh yeah, that Waxahatchee is nice.

Have you ever listened to John Grant? That new Father John Misty really reminds me of his first album a lot. (Also has a new album due this year)

Ooh, almost forgot! Speedy Ortiz - Foil Deer

"Ginger"
