does anyone get the feeling that the HBO writers hate the original GRRRM text? part of the joy of reading the series is complexities of details and plots that take a long time to develop...i get making changes for streamlining the plot and characters, but the fabrications of this year seem almost insulting to the richness of the source material...the sansa/littlefinger storyline is abysmal and the changes have massive ripple affects throughout the story..the whole drama of the winterfell intrigues of GRRRM is in my opinion some of his very best writing but all of that is impossible as sansa strolled through winterfell with littlefinger...the jamie to dorne plot is infuriating and promises a whole season complete HBO bullshit..there is more than enough material in the books to be faithful and compelling for TV but the producers feel we are too stupid to relate to more than a handful of known recognized and branded stars. just had to let off some steam...i liked the series despite its flaws up until this year...each new episode just leaves me annoyed now,,, .

I gave up on the show after the first season. Watching it just confused all the things I had read in my head when they changed the story. Some people seem to think the show might help with understanding the story, but it had the opposite effect on me. I don't think I ever watched a movie and thought, "That was better than the book!"

No, I think the writers have done a good job. If we're honest most book readers are simply unable to judge things from an impartial point of view. The success of the show proves how good a job they've done (the reviews are almost unanimously brilliant). And bearing in mind some of the criticism of AFFC and ADWD (although personally I like them) it makes sense for them to change the story a bit.

You've got to remember how vast and convoluted the books are. They could never be shown the same way on screen. The Sansa/Littlefinger storyline is the perfect example - they didn't have the time to add Farya and Harry the Heir, so they just merged those plots together. It's a case of streamlining the story.

After the high sparrow episode I've decided I'm done with the show. No logic to the writing at all. It will be interesting to see how this season and the later seasons will do, after all 1,2,3,4 were all based on GRRM's work and writing but now the show have decided to take it upon themselves to right the rest. I hope show viewers are finally able to see the diffrence between GRRM and D&D. Since any time i try and tell anybody they just say I'm being a "show hater for no reason". Ugh.
