Minor question: Brian Cox

Supposedly he was offered a role, anyone know which role?

I like Brian Cox, would've been a cool addition to the show :P

Are you serious? Brian Cox? That is both awesome and bizarre.

It also makes me hopeful for Oldtown, as I could see him being a Maester in training or something haha.

wyman motherf***ing manderly. or just wyman manderly. he would be an amazing fit for either one. honestly at this point though I don't care who plays him, I just want to see wyman make it to the show. even if will smith was casted for the role i would be ecstatic.

I saw the name Brian Cox in the thread title and I had to pop in! I agree with you, Wyman Manderly played by Brian Cox would have been great!

I don't know why but the first thing I thought of when I saw the title was the physics Professor come TV presenter, I thought maybe he could have a funny cameo until I remembered there was an actor of the same name!

I assume you mean Brian Cox the actor and not the physics professor?

Brian Cox as Lord Manderly (or fulfilling the same role) would've been great. Unfortunately the people of the North (and even wildlings) has been established as mostly having Northern English accents rather than Scottish (with no one apart from Pryat Pree of all people seeming to speak in a Scottish accent, as far as I remember) so his Scottish accent might sound out of place, although perhaps it wouldn't be too bad since it could indicate he's from a different area of the North (although you would expect a Manderly from White Harbor to sound more like people from southern Westeros rather than even more different).

Not sure what role he might have been offered that actually exists in the show, possibly a very minor one, is there any source for when this was (if it is even confirmed true)?
