Cersei & The Mountain...

As someone who not only isn't to book 3 yet, but sometimes misses subtleties in the show, hopefully someone can help me with this.

Yes, The Mountain was a successful champion for Cersei vs. Oberyn, but beyond that, what's her interest in saving him? Is it a "He was one of 'us'" kind of thing (not her style), a general humanitarian thing (definitely not her style), or did she have actual plans in the making for him at that point, whether real or theoretical?

Or did she just ask out of courtesy ("Can you save him? Yeah? Great. No? That's cool too").

Thanks!

Exactly. With Margaery plotting against her, and the potential of her own son soon plotting against her because of Margaery's seductive ways, Cersei might very well need a bodyguard soon, and there isn't a more intimidating bodyguard than a zombie Mountain. lol

Because Dorne hates him. If she can keeo him alive she can cut off his head and send it to Dorne and make it look like it was The Kings peace and was a good faith gesture. If he dies from the poison she cant do that, but everyone from Dorne knows he is called the red viper for a reason. Shit even when he was a kid he was in a trial by combat in dorne. (except they only do first blood not to death, Oberyn got first blood but used a spear dipped in poison like he did with the mountain and the guy had a slow painful death)

LOL every post above me is wrong. Not to be a dick though. This is the show thread so cant get on anyone if they have not read the books

So Dorne knows that if Oberyns spear even hit Gregor once he will be dead regardless, so what Cersei wants to pull , they wont buy it.

In the books I think it was Tywin who wanted to make sure he stayed alive to execute him as a food faith proposal

Alive or dead.....she could still send the head. Not sure why it would make a difference, unless she wanted to make it a public execution. Even if it wasn't a real public execution, I'm sure Cersei could make it look like one in a message sent along with The Mountain's head.

Because if he was already dead then it wasnt the kings peace, he died from Oberyn.

But if he lived and executed him it could be seen as kings offer to punish him for his crimes

I only answered this question because it had no replies.

The problem is that moderation is very slow. The site is designed in such a way that after it is moderated, it ends up at the back of the queue, several pages after.

The site is horrible, I cannot acces it many times in the day and must wait hours before the server allows me a connection

"Guru meditation"

"Vanish cache server"

"Server is too busy"

After typing our a line post, THIS happens and I have to retype it :(
