The Emberheart
Maisie Williams started in her role as Arya as a young teenager but has since grown up, being legally an adult now. Rumours persisted that this may be Maisie's last season, yet Arya's story is likely to go on. In my opinion, for a time now, they kept Maisie round cheeked to allow her to appear younger and her wider clothes helped a lot in dressing down her more feminine shapes over the years. But a grown up Maisie can't keep playing a teenaged girl. Could this be a turning point where Maisie stops being Arya and various actresses (and maybe even actors) will play the various faces of Arya? It's not beyond the possibilities. Discuss? WinterRaven
Could be, but we haven't even seen her in that other set of clothing that she was wearing in previews yet. So I think it might be a bit early to say she's leaving. Here's the costume I'm referring to: http://cnet3.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/2015/03/11/78a66fb1-4aa0-4ef5-8823-2d8443a0628d/4cd649910f0c5ff35390a0d0d050cd18/arya-stark.jpg
Mos
Nah, Maisie isn't going anywhere.
sonsastronk
I think the fans would throw a shitfit, and D&D love her and always sing her praises, so I don't think there's a chance of a recast. At least not for the next season.
sb.69
She's no one, faceless. Doesn't that make it easy to recast?
Ser Wun Wun
What have you got against Maise that you want her gone? :frown5: Recasting minor characters like The Mountain and Myrcella is one thing, recasting a Stark is a whole other ball game. I can't ever envision them doing something that drastic. My guess, they will simply not have Arya do any face changing at all. In the show universe only people deemed to be No One can use those, and Arya, as Jaqen just said last episode, is not ready for that. She will probably abandon her training before she ever reaches that point with them. They will have taught her to lie better so that she can play roles more effectively, so that people can't spot her lies the way Tywin did. And they will teach her about poisons, good ways to kill, etc. That is all she needs to know to embark on her vengeance quest.
sonsastronk
What have you got against Maise that you want her gone? :frown5: From what I've seen, more and more people are getting dissatisfied with Maisie. Not that I can blame them.
Cubarey
From what I've seen, more and more people are getting dissatisfied with Maisie. Not that I can blame them. Who and Why? Seems to me I have heard nothing but praise for her acting and she is not so developed that she cannot player a teenager. If anyone would be recast it would be Bran who has Grown from a small 10 year old to a gawkish 15 year old during the series run.
intheswamp
There is no chance in the Seven Hells she will be recast. Maisie is one of the most popular actresses on the show. Also, it is common for actors in their 30s to play teenagers. Maisie's what, 18? She can easily play an Arya that is only a few years younger than her. The Mighty Nutsaculus
From what I've seen, more and more people are getting dissatisfied with Maisie. Not that I can blame them. It's human nature. The bigger something gets, and the more popular something or someone get, the more people look to be dissatisfied. It doesn't reflect talent. When did she grow up? She's still small and looking very young. I would never guess she's already 18 when I see her.
jet199
I think they will keep Maisie even when Arya changes her face to do the body acting. It would be a lot harder to find someone with the same shape and train them up in the water dancing type moves she has learnt than just to keep her on contract. AryaNymeriaVisenya
What would be the point? All the kids are growing up, why is it Arya has to stay 13 but Sansa can look 20 or Bran can look 16?

And their characters are more important too and the actors are more popular than her. Sophie is turning into a big star so she's more indisposable. jet199
No, the show want the children to get older so that they can legally do sex scenes. You are thinking in exactly the opposite way to the way D&D think.
sonsastronk
Nah, not really. There is nothing remotely sexual or attractive about Arya so that reasoning is irrelevant.
Faceless Man Friday
Because those actors are more important to the show than Maisie, I think. And their characters are more important too and the actors are more popular than her. Sophie is turning into a big star so she's more indisposable. I am sorry you are wrong. Arya is very important to the show and Maisie's ability to play her can not easily be replaced. No one else will ever play Arya.
sonsastronk
Arya isn't important to the show since she's completely secluded from other plotlines. If her story were taken out, nothing would change. The other storylines would be intact and viewership would remain unchanged. Also, Maisie is easily replaceable. That may have not been the case when she was younger, but there are tons of actresses who are more talented than her and able to fit the role perfectly. If they got some popular actress to play No One with a new face and it became permanent, fans would probably be excited. People love established actresses. Lord Damian
anyone notice in the writeups/cast on the show in cable guides. Maise Williams is listed as an episode cast member but Sophie Turner is not? This has been all season so far.
