The Four Regions in The Reach

Recommended Posts

According to TWOIAF there are four regions in the reach

The Oldtown and its environs. bounded by the Red Mountains to the east and the headwaters of the Honeywine in the north.

The Arbor famed for wines

The Western Marches which are from Horn Hill to Nightsong

The Reach Proper anything in the outside of the above mentioned

Do you people know which houses resided in each region of reach before being united

Reach Proper: Gardener, Crane, Caswell, Rowan

Arbor: Redwyne

Oldtown: Hightower, Costayne, Beesbury, Bulwer, Cuy, Mullendore

Western Marches: Tarly, Peake (possibly)

Any other Ideas as to which house existed in each region

It seems the kingdom was unified before the arrival of the Andals, so the distinction might not matter to many of the houses now in the Reach, and we don't have a certain way of telling whether all the houses are Andal or First Men. Still we can get an idea of which would have belonged to which kingdom, if slightly anachronistically, by looking at the settlements.

Western Marches: Horn Hill seems to be the only settlement named but might at one point have included Nightsong.

Reach Proper: Ashford, Chester (Shield Islands), Fossoway, Grimm (Shield Islands), Hewett (Shield Islands), Manderly (probably), Meadows, Oakheart (FM), Osgrey, Tyrell (certainly Andal)

Oltdown: Blackbar, Florent
