Stannis' pesky map markers....

White Harbors Wrath

Has anyone been able to figure out whose markers those are yet? The ones from the episode 7 promo pics as well as season 5 trailers and probably elsewhere? They seem to be a sword hilt through a round disc...people keep claiming they're Greyjoy, which makes even less sense than usual for them to suddenly be in the mix.

I'm guessing Arryn or Sellswords.

Doesn't provide any extra detail and there's no "enhance, enhance … enhance" here. Definitely a sword through some kind of circular/oval item.

Has to be sellswords. There's no way Littlefinger is back with the Vale yet, right?

Also considering the lakes on the west of the map at about the same latitude I'd say that the 4 surrounded markers are around Hornwood, but the Hornwood's sigil is an elk. I was thinking Manderly's forces? But the sigil of Manderlys is the triton king... :(

no clue

I think the lone Bolton marker is definitely the Dreadfort. The two together must be Winterfell and some other Bolton forces.

In the preview video, at 14 secs, one of the Bolton markers is knocked over, which I'm thinking is a good thing.

The unknown markers are probably sellswords. They also appear on this trailer at 40 secs. They look like coins and swords to me.

coin+sword = sellswords from the Iron Bank. Stannis asked for funding and got it.

I am in agreement here. We know he got funded because Davos paid the pirates to bring his army to westeros. I think the flaming hearts and the swords/coins are all part of Stannis's force.

Also, the dreadfort is to the east of Winterfell, so if the single flayed man is the Dreadfort, that would give us some refernce to the layout of the map. This also makes sence that stannis would be betwwen the Dreadfort and Winterfell because the King's Road runs between them.

I doubt the single flayed man is Moat Cailin, because that means Stannis would be attacking Winterfell from the south.

Just my two cents.

Glad there has been a thread started on this, has been bugging me too since the trailer came out.

Agree with most of whats been said already, we have the flayed man and the fiery heart but the disc

with the sword through it is problematic.

Definitely not a kraken map marker

This is the promo picture from the next episode, note Stannis has the mystery marker in his hand

Sellsword company might be a good shout, could even be the Golden Company, as Davos proposed

them to Stannis in the past and ther banner has a spear on it.

If you look at Stannis' map he has 3 flayed man map markers (say 1 at the Dreadfort, two at Winterfell), two fiery heart and two mystery markers.

Go back to episode 5 when Roose is talking to Ramsey about the looming battle, Roose has 4 fiery heart markers at Castle Black, 5 flayed men on the map altogther (1 at the Dreadfort, 3 at Winterfell and one further down the map say at Moat Cailin).

However if Stannis is to be believed they have more men and more horses (right now at least) so Iam not sure the markers are adding up here on the Boltons side, however on both Stannis map and Roose' there is 4 markers for possible Baratheon forces.

Could also simply be that Stannis has different markers for his different forces, infantry, cavalry, navy etc.

It's anyones guess at this stage, Northern lords, Littlefinger, Wildings, Rickon, Gendry, judging by what Davos was carving in episode 5 the Company of the Cat might even spring us a suprise!
