Summah
He (Duggar kid) confirmed it, so not really rumor. And it's definitely mostly his own sisters according to the police report. His family protected him and by doing so failed their daughters.

His family protected him and by doing so failed their daughters. The hypocrisy here is pretty mind blowing. They more or less spearheaded a robocall campaign a number of months ago that used potential child molestation as a rationale for voting down a civil rights initiative. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/18/michelle-duggar-anti-discrimination-proposal_n_5689840.html I truly hope they lose their TV show over this. See Duck Dynasty. I just hope this sticks.
cdawnb
I am wondering why, if it is true law enforcement was aware of what was going on, there were never any charges brought against him.

Apparently, the report taken was never filed. Probably had to do with the family's standing in the community I suppose. Josh Duggar was 15 at the time. Summah
Past the statute of limitations by the time the police (not the good ole boy police friend who went down for child porn, the detectives) learned of what happened. At least that's what I read.
Manhole Eunuchsbane
Perhaps TLC could replace the show with something truly educational. Beyond the Wall: At Home with the Crasters?

Bonesy
I feel bad for this kid. Statistically he didn't do anything that is very abnormal, sadly. But there is a reason juvenile records get legally buried and expunged. I never had mine expunged because a.) I didn't want any secrets between me and an employer that could get them and b.) because I was lazy. What is the difference between a person with multiple criminal offenses at an early age and a person that lives in a charitable manner ever since? In my case, none. Summah
I feel bad for his sisters who were forced to continue to live in the same house as their abuser.

Yeah, I don't mean to come off like a judgmental prick. Kids fuck up, I get it. That being said, as more light is cast on this Quiverfull (organization? movement? cult?) it seems that there is a pretty twisted patriarchal mindset in place. This is apparently a bit of a sex abuse counseling pamphlet that a related organization (The Gothard Homeschooling Curriculum) released to members of Quiverfull... http://www.motherjones.com/contributor/2015/05/holy-shit-how-duggars-homeschooling-curriculum-allegedly-dealt-sexual-abuse And the founder of the center that Josh Duggar was sent to for "counseling" (the self same guy who created that curriculum) was charged with sexual harrassment back in 2014. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3093250/Faith-healing-clinic-Josh-Duggar-sought-treatment-repeatedly-molesting-young-girls-founder-resigned-accusations-sexually-harassed-teenagers.html Don't feel too bad for Josh, Bonesy. God forgives him. It's all good.

Commodore
What bothers the left is the hypocrisy, not the molestation You get a pass as long as you don't speak against it. Just ask Lena Dunham. Child touching is distasteful, but the real crime is failing to practice what one preaches.
Bonesy
I feel bad for young offenders. I feel worse for their victims. Please don't twist my compassion for the one to mean disregard of the other. The seemingly incessant need to be more right is why I don't even want to talk anymore.

The implication would seem to be that you, unlike the left, actually do care about the molestation, and yet this was your post.
Bonesy
Hypocrisy to me is the only unforgivable sin. If that was the ONLY THING that was universally unacceptable, most everything would sort itself out in due course. ETA: Jesus was fairly adamant about this as well. Mladen
The shows like this and their viewership counted in millions is why I sometimes fear for American society in general.

It's completely gross and I'm more than happy that Duggar's show has been cancelled but Dunham is still making her POS TV show for HBO despite false r&pe allegations and being an admitted child molestor. So why the double standard? Sorry jus to clarify, are you really saying the left are in favor of child molestation in some way?
