Lord Ben
Theon saw. “Winter is coming …”Rowan gave him a hard look. “You have no right to mouth Lord Eddard’s words. Not you. Not ever. After what you did—” I've been wondering why a wildling spearwife would care about Lord Eddard's words enough to defend them? Also why she even knows in the first place. bemused
She's obviously not your standard wildling spearwife. She could have Umber (or Clan) ties, perhaps through her mother ( remember Crowfood's {?} stolen daughter). Or she could even be an Umber outright ... Jon tells Stannis the Greatjon has both sons and daughters .. Mance seemed to be thinking about using "hidey-holes" on the Umber side of Long Lake.. and Mance seemed to have northern co-operation that assured he would be welcomed in WF (Manderly's missing singers). Lady Blizzardborn
The Wildlings now about House Stark. How could they not with that Bael the Bard story still floating around? And they despise turncloaks as much as anyone else does, unless they are turning cloak to join the free folk, that is.
ThePromiseThatWasAPrince
It's more than that. I think the wildlings had respect for Eddard Stark, which is why she says "Lord Eddard's words" and not "Lord Stark's words".

Bael The Bards son was flayed (I argue skinflaynged) by the Bolton Red King in the Long Night
BitsOfBrains
Mance knew Eddard Stark at least in passing and these are his hand picked girls. Maybe he told them he was a pretty good dude. We know Ned treats visiting Nights Watch with all kinds of respect so my guess is Mance was impressed with how hospitable/respectful Ned was and told the other wildlings about it. There also seems to be a grudging reverence for the Starks beyond the wall. When they meet Jon his Stark blood seems to be a selling point to a minor extent.
