of course if jon sends him he is not a deserter this makes more sense but hell who knows, at this point he might be there and free ghost, if he is locked up that is....

I expect Jon will send them off shortly after returning from Hardholm, only to have Olly whisper "Hail Caesar" in his ear as soon as Sam and Gilly are out of sight.

Then the two (with baby makes three) can begin season 6 getting off the boat in Old Town.

Jon will probably send Sam (and Gilly and the baby) at Oldtown when he comes back from Hardhome and when he learns that Aemon died. And Sam will arrive in Oldtown in season 6.

And the casting gives some hints :

- the three boys could be Pate and the other novices at the Citadel,

- the pirate certainly is Euron or Victarion... The fleet will attack Oldtown.

That's speculations, but since someone mentionned the Citadel in season 5, I've suspected that Sam could go there... and the casting is really interesting!

Well, the set up is here.

My guess is that when Jon returns in 509 he sends them away because they are not safe at Castle Black and they need a new Maester.

Then I hope to see Eastwatch-by-the-Sea in 510 with Sam and Gilly boarding a ship. The journey to Oldtown would then happen between seasons.

I also hope to sea EbtS in 508 before Jon embarks for Hardhome.

Only three episodes left and looking like Jon gets the stabby-stabby as the finale of episode 10:

Episode 8: Jon goes to Hardhome

Episode 9: Jon gets back, sends Sam, Gilly to OIdsTown.

Episode 10: Jon gets the Stabby-Stabby.

Since Jon being stabbed is clearly the most important plot development twist, it has to be the last scene. There is quite a lot else to fit in though:

Arya gives the gift.

Cersei's walk of shame

Cersei discovers its not enough

Margery gets free

Stannis / Bolton battle

Brienne helps someone escape (Sansa? Shireen?)

Stannis funeral pyre

Sansa's escape

Danzack's pit

Danny rides Drogon

I can well imagine Mel only discovers that Stannis isn't Azor Ahai after she has burnt his dead body to a crispy crisp in episode 9. Ooops.

We all know Stannis isn't Azor Ahai.

But how do we know Stannis will die?

She has returned to the Wall, and has been read The Pink Letter... ?

Hopefully this is the case. It actually makes sense to have it in the trailer to make us believe that she is grieving for Shireen being burned.

But we do see some hints of a fire raging in the Stannis camp in the trailer as well. What's that all about?

This.

this is more likely stannis catching her and mel trying to burn shireen against his will so he kills her instead could make him the shows version of aa. still think jon fits better but the show is so random to the books who knows. i think sam and gilly will leave maybe thorne might even be the one to send them away so that no one has jons back at the wall

Why would Selyse burn Shireen? We know that she didn't even want Shireen to go with them (she told her herself) because she knew what Melisandre was planning to do.

If Selyse thinks that Stannis died, she would accept to burn Shireen if it can bring back Stannis...

People are still expecting a battle at Winterfell?

I'm not expecting one this season. Hopefully the Pink Letter, and of course Jon's stabby-stabby, but I'd expect the Battle of Winterfell to take place on-screen in episode 1 or 2 of next season. If we only see the aftermath of the battle I will be so disappointed, but then Game of Thrones may have a huge budget but it's not infinite.

We don't know that Stannis will die. It is an unfounded fan theory.

Might happen of course but it would make the whole Stannis story arc pretty pointless.

The futility of his cause being the entire point from the start.

Stannis could have made common cause with his brother Renly. Instead he had him murdered dishonorably using witchcraft. Stannis is totally about his rights and thinks nothing about his responsibilities.

All five of the five kings are pursuing a bankrupt cause from the start. Joffrey is a bastard child with no claim to the throne who uses his power only to satisfy his ego. Renly challenges his elder brother despite an obviously weaker claim. Stannis doesn't have the army to make his claim but battles anyway despite the cost to the country. Balon is a faithless turncoat leading a bunch of pirate scum. Robb breaks his word to Walder Frey over a woman when asking his men to make the supreme sacrifice for him.

At this point, Stannis is the only one of the original five Kings still alive in the books. It makes better sense for the show to kill him off and let Balon and the IronBorn loose in season 6.

Lets face it, either Roose or Stannis has to die in the coming battle, quite possibly both.
