Could have Sam killed Thenns if he had full plate steel armor and "Oathkeeper" at the Battle of Castle Black?

It occured to me that Samwell Tarly was mostly useless in the Battle of Castle Black, in terms of killing wildlings such as Thenns, in the TV show. However, in the books he wasn't there at all. However, if he was... it got me thinking, if he had worn Renly Baratheon's Armor and Helmet fitted to Sam's size and was equipped with an Unsullied shield and the sword "Oathkeeper" and the spare sword "Widow's Wail" sheathed by his hip, and can he actually live up to his title as "Sam the Slayer" and gain the respect of his Night's Watch brothers?

The Thenns will of course have crap steel weapons and will only have fur armor on. They fight Sam one by one, as silly as that may sound.

Possibly not. Though probably anyone else could. I mean, Tyrion was suddenly Conan the barbarian. That guy who went against armored Barristan couldn't do shit to him with a crappy weapon.

So I suppose with Dawn against fur basically anyone who could wave the thing around would probably kill something.

No. Sam could be armed in Renlys kit plus any weapon in ASOIAF fighting a naked unarmed Thenn and still lose.

Fat people are awkward and uncoordinated. Sam is awkward and uncoordinated even more.

If he had Dawn he would be more likely to cut off his own foot than an enemies.

Thenns are savage warriors born and bred from first men pure stock to win wars.

You really need to read the books before posting any more stuff like this. Sam was set up in a practice match with full armor and got curbstomped by a kitchen maid. He tells Jon about it when he comes to the Wall. He was hopeless.

Also, Valyrian steel will give a good swordsman an advantage; it won't make a miserable one good. Its forging employs spells but it isn't magical itself.

Dawn is a greatsword as well, requiring use of both hands IIRC. He consequently wouldn't be able to use a shield, and the poor guy, god bless him, wouldn't be able to parry to (literally) save his life.

Kit is just means load out.

People use it to mean "equipment".even on a daily basis. Like I have a "night out" kit and a "meeting kit" etc.

Well, it would be one on one. When one Thenn falls, here comes the other. Otherwise, getting ganged up would be too much for someone like Sam. Oh, I thought it was more standard for Knights to fight with a shield. But okay, if the Shield is a disadvantage, then he could always just attach it his back or toss it at the Thenn like a frisbee.
