Linda
If someone could update the book infobox with a "Purchase this book" entry at the bottom, that'd be excellent. The default ought to be the US hardcover linked to Amazon.com. We will be implementing a script that rewrites the link so that it takes the users geographical location into account and sends them to the right store. Linda
That looks excellent, thank you. What do you think, should we make it Buy instead of Purchase so it doesn't go two lines?
Rhaenys_Targaryen
Just tried, but even with "buy this book" two lines are needed..Figured perhaps "Purchase here" might be an option, but that's too long as well.. Only "Purchase"? Another option would be to enlarge the picture of the book cover, stretching the template out a bit, allowing for more room on the lines.. Linda
Hmm, probably best not to widen the template, since horizontal real-estate is always an issue on webpages. Lets go with just Purchase, should be clear enough.
Rhaenys_Targaryen
Got it.. Amazon offers multiple hard covers.. Any preference for which hard covers you'd like the pages to link to? For AGOT, I currently simply choose the first one Amazon offered.
RumHam
This is just a thought, but have you considered using Amazon's referral program to possibly make money to defer the costs of hosting this site? Basically every time someone uses the new purchase link to buy one of the books you'd get a small percentage. https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/
Linda
Rhaenys, I think picking whichever Amazon shows first is a good choice. RumHam, The script we're adding in is actually a script that will direct anyone clicking on the link to the correct Amazon for where they are (or default to the US) and use an affiliate link in the process. :)
Linda
And the script should now be implemented, so that when someone clicks the buy link, they get sent to the right Amazon provided they are in he UK, France, Germany, Spain or Italy. The rest defaults to Amazon.com
