chasing the dragons
1. Jaqen H'gar told Aarya that the Red God is owed 3 lives for the cage rescue. (not the old gods as aarya follows or the 7 that most of westerns follows) odd. 2. Mellisandre was able to "change" Mance/Rattleshirt 3. Dany's prophesy says to beware the Mummer's Dragon 4. Mellisandre want's to awaken the stone dragon So maybe the priest/priestess of R'hllor and the FM are working together. They can either change their own appearance (FM) or change how others look (Mellisandre with Mance/Rattlehirt)
kissdbyfire
Jaqen said that because the three burned to death.
ArabellaVidal
"Only death can pay for life" seems to be a universal concept for all the deities in asoiaf.
chasing the dragons
They weren't being sacrificed, there was a fire in their camp and Aarya gave them an axe/hatchet. Didn't think that qualified as red god stuff?
kissdbyfire
Actually, I 'misspoke'. The three didn't burn, and so the Red God is owed three deaths. There are several threads discussing this specific, here's one. And as far as I recall, there are no further mentions of this, but my take is, he said that because they almost burned. I imagine if Arya had saved them from a sinking ship, Jaqen would say 'the Drowned God' is owed three deaths. :)
