In the world book we read about the sorcery in Asshai.

Some of the sorcerers in Asshai:

- Warlocks

- Wizards

- Alchemists

- Black Alchemist

- Pyromancers

- Bloodmages

- Aeromancers

- Godswives

- Night walkers

- Red priests

- Shadowbinders

- Necromancers

We know what red priests , shadowbinders , Pyromancers and necromancers are. But what about the others , im really wondering about aeromancers and night walkers. Im guessing that aeromancers are someone who can manipulate air. Night walkers i have no idea about the night walkers , are something similar to white walkers or are they people manipulates the night. Godswives i have no idea? The difference between alchemists and black alchemists ?

Whats your toughts ?

No idea about the difference between alchemists and black alchemists. I didn't expect that lol.

Godswife is a priestess of Great Shepherd. Mirri Maz Duur was a godswife. The only Lhazar-related thing in the world book, but one cannot know that without reading AGOT.

We know what warlocks are, we saw them in ACOK and I'm sure we will see them more in the upcoming books.

Blue-lipped (due shade of the evening) magicians with a variety of powers.

Agree that aeromancers are magicians who work on wind and air. We know soo little about wind magic. I think Euron will show us what wind magic is in the Battle of Oldtown :box:

Still, I would love to see an aeromancer.

I think night-walkers perform astral projection and they also use glass candles.

We also learned that priests of Black Goat, Bakkalon the Pale Child and Lion of Night are like the red priests, they perform magic too. Which shows R'hllor is not one true god just because his priests show magical powers.

You didn't add to your list but we are also told of shapechangers and I think they perform Faceless Men's magic but they are not assassins lol

This is a list of sorcerers who travel to Asshai to study there. Neither they nor the cultures/traditions they come from have to be native to Asshai.

Godswives are the witches/healers of the Great Sheperd from the Lhazareen. Mirri Maz Duur was one of them and she, too, traveled to Asshai in her youth.

Not sure what necromancers are, technically. Yes, Qyburn practices necromancy but I'm not sure that this is the only higher mystery he is interested in.

There are also moonsingers in Asshai. Jogos Nhai's priestesses. They have birthing songs and apparently have a reliable prophecy power.

I don't think every magic kind needs to belong somewhere. I can see necromancy as a universal branch of magic.

Qyburn is practicing it, some Qohorik too, Mel says Others' wights are work of necromancy...

Im pretty sure Euron will show us Wind magic in TWOW , and he has been in Asshai too. Necromancy i think it's every work with raising the dead. The Others are necromancers , Qyburn is a necromancer and the red priests are probably necromancers too. And could the Night walkers be tied to the lion of the Night? Maybe they are priests of the lion.

Not sure if there will be a Battle of Oldtown - and if there is one, Euron cannot hope to magically challenge Lord Leyton and the Mad Maid - but Euron may actually use magic to defeat the Redwyne fleet. He cannot hope to defeat them in a conventional naval battle, and if he doesn't defeat them at all he and the Ironborn are done. And if he has won that battle he'll most likely ignore Oldtown and the south. He wants the Iron Throne - and he won't win that by threatening Highgarden or Oldtown.

Yeah , Euron will use magic to crush the Redwynes. According to rumors Leyton and mad Maid are looking for ways to raise armies from the sea , not sure if thats going to happen tho. If it happens , it should be a Greyjoy who does it.

I don't think red priests are necromancers...Resurrection and necromancy are different you know.

Yeah but night-walkers and priests of Lion of Night are seperately mentioned.

Oldtown will be so interesting I think. Tons of supernatural stuff could occure.

Yes Oldtown and Euron will be interesting. What do you think about the " army from the sea" ?

I would literally love an entire book on Asshai. As silly as it sounds, the first time I read Night walkers; I assumed something akin to vampires. I think we've seen a bit of aeromancy from Mel and (maybe Moqorro). Mel burns Alester Florent for a nice breeze to get them to the Wall. Doesn't Moqorro do something similar? We're bound to see more of it with Euron.

Sorry for the late reply :blushing:

I think it's either krakens or Deep Ones. They are living on that black stone fortress after all.

Yes, Euron will definetly show us more aeromany!

Yes, true. They both did that.

Thats okay grumpy. I think the army is the deep ones , but i doubt that Hightower will do it. I think it's foreshadowing that someone else will do it , my money is on Aeron.

Aeromancia would not simply the art of guessing, which is based on the interpretation of atmospheric phenomena. But I remember that in the books, say those who try to navigate to Isle of Faces is attacked by crows or pushed by strange winds.

Black Alchemist to me sounds like make special poisons (the Strangler) and is connected to the blacksmiths of Qohor, after all, they use blood sacrifices to change the steel. Who knows Fullmetal Alchemist can imagine other things. Human transmutation, homunculus (dwarfs of House of the Undying) ... maybe Wyverns + Firewyrms = dragons of Valyrian.

Necromancy is communicating with the dead, by summoning their spirits; or actually raising them back into life.

Night walkers sounds like vampirism to me, or something fairly close. I'd guess blood magic would be involved, perhaps these are the people who try to extend their lifespan and as a result can only come out at night.

Just like white walkers don't do so well in the summer.
