In-Depth Character Test And Report

I know, I know, you've seen a hundred different GoT character tests, most of them not any good and not scratching the surface of the depth and variety of characters. I've tried to do something different with this test . . .

http://mygotcharacter.com/

Firstly it includes 45 major character possibilites. Secondly it measures each character on 14 different personality traits, with 16 different scenarios, with every choice made altering your scoring on 6 or more of the traits. Finally there's a report that gives you your primary, secondary and tertiary character with spider graphs to see exactly how you compare to your matched characters. Here's a sample report to get an idea . . .

http://mygotcharacter.com/EKKKKKAKGIAADK.html

So it's still a first draft . . . and with so many data points, and complexity, it's not perfect . . . it's been a huge undertaking to rank and describe all the characters. Really interested in your feedback to refine and improve it. It's fun to do the test with your own choices, but also interesting to assume your favourite character and answer the scenario questions as that character to see if it comes out correctly in the report. Even for minor characters, it's usually one of the 3 in the report.

Let me how you get on, and if you've any questions.

That was interesting, but you might consider allowing a choice of male or female. I got three old men--good ones, but still...

Though I was pleased to see my sanity level is higher than even Maester Luwin's. :D

I'm going to try it again with a few minor tweaks and see what happens.

ETA: second time I got two old men, but one was Barristan so I'm good. And my third was Ned Stark. I am apparently far more intelligent and cautious than Ned is. Have to say I never would have warned Cersei that I knew her secret so that's probably true.

ETA: I like the results format and the comparisons between each character and the quiz taker, but I have to wonder why I keep getting men for the results no matter how I answer.

Thanks Lady Blizzardborn for your feedback!

I did purposefully leave out trying to match people's gender with characters . . . the test is trying to match you with the figure with the most similar personality. With a wider range of personalities to choose from (both the male and female characters), I'd hope we'd get a more accurate match. It might be that the test is biased to show more male characters, or it might be that your character is more similar to the traits that are common in the male characters in GoT, and not so common in the female characters. Anyway, take it with a pinch of salt and postpone the gender re-assignment surgery for now ;)

Hehehe.

For the first try I got Aemon > Luwin > Jeor

The I redid the test with my secondary answers (aka the ones I was contemplating but ended up dismissing the first time) and the result was: Aemon > Jeor > Luwin

I do agree with the characteristics the test claims I have for the most part, however I'm not sure I see why that's closest to Maester Aemon's character out of 45 options.

One question: in the Daenerys question when I have to plead for mercy for my brother or watch my husband kill him, was it intentional that you left out the pregnancy part? Because I read the question twice to make sure it wasn't included and ended up pleading that my husband exiles my brother. Were the pregnancy part included I may have opted for letting my husband kill him. Well that brings a new dimension to the family loyalty factor as in which family you are more loyal to, something that you probably wouldn't want to go into in a character test. So probably intentional. Heh. Now that I answered my own question I will ask another.

Another question: there were times when I missed a 5th or 6th option. Why can't I try and give the wounded men the best medical treatment I can and try to wake him up from unconsciousness? Because that'd be the first thing I'd think of in that scenario. Same with the butcher son. If I were in the mood to take revenge for my murdered son I would, but I wouldn't put tears of Lys all over the lamb and kill people who aren't in truth responsible for my son's death.

Otherwise it was pretty thorough and neat

I always love a good quiz

LOL. Will do.

Hehehe.

We must have been separated at birth! That's what I got the first time around. :D

I got Robb Stark > Mance Rayder > Khal Drogo. I can see Mance Rayder but pretty surprised at getting Robb, and especially the brute Drogo. I'm not too politically savvy, apparently. I usually get Arya or Jaime in other quizzes.

 I'm glad to have a long lost twin

Drogo is not a brute, btw, at least not just a brute. He is more other things than a brute.

I got Aemon > Catelyn > Luwin. Seems I'm just way more loyal to my family than Maester Aemon (10 points vs. 2 points).

I missed a fifth answer in the "found a woman in the NW"-question along the lines of "help her to keep her secret hidden".

same here. I got more family loyalty points than Aemon but way less honesty and honor points. I opted for lying way too often.

Now that you say it would make sense. And it sounds like something Sam Tarly would do too.

I don't remember how I compared to Aemon in honesty and honor, but I was less honest and more honorable than Cat (so I guess when I choose to lie, it were honorable options... )

Awesome! One of the best, if not the best, test I had took about ASOIAF.

I will not lie I took the test twice because when I had #3, the first time, I was like :ack: and at some questions I had more than one answer. I am not sure how I feel after that :dunno:

First time I had:

Primary Character:Jeor Mormont Traits:Resolute, Fearless, Strong.

Secondary Character:Jon Snow Traits:Loner, Solemn, Somber.

Tertiary Character:Catelyn Stark Tully Traits:Politically Aware, Protective, Dogged ( :ack: :ack: :ack: )

Second time;

Primary Character:Jeor Mormont Traits:Resolute, Fearless, Strong.

Secondary Character:Jon Snow Traits:Loner, Solemn, Somber.

Tertiary Character: Robb Stark Traits:Strong, Just, Honorable.

I tried taking the quiz as Daenerys and she did not come up in my matches. Robb Stark did though.

Had my husband and oldest son try it as well. We all got the same top three matches, just in different orders. I'm having a hard time believing in the accuracy of the quiz based on this, because the three of us are definitely not that much alike. Next time my dad is over I'll have him try it see what happens. :D

This is interesting and very nicely formatted! I got Jeor Mormont, Maester Luwin and Maester Aemon. I'm going to take it again a few more times from favorite character's POVs and see how the results vary.

ETA: I tried it a few more times, first trying to get Bran and second trying for Arya. I ended up with Mance, Robb and Jeor on the first go, and Drogo, Ramsay :ack: , and Mance the second time. :(

Also, I didn't see a way to go back within the quiz and change a previous answer. That would be a nice feature. (Sorry if it's there and I missed it.)

Some very good quiz I did some time ago, but I cannot easily find now, told me I was similar to Dany with Jon as a close second (or the other way, around, I don't really remember, it was a really close thing anyway), so I tried for them.

With Dany I got

loyality 10

powerlust 6

bravery 10

honor 10

leadership 10

traditionality 10

family loyality 10

sanity 2

generosity 10

compassion 10

intelligence 9

honesty 6

cautioness 0

seriousness 10

I would rate her honor, traditionality, family loyality and honesty slightly lower, but the other points seem a good fit to me.

I got Jeor > Robb > Robert.. hm... well, at least I can see many similarities between her and Robb (trying to protect their people, willing to fight, creative tacticians, but fail to see all of the big picture, trying to be just...)

For Jon I got:

loyality 10

powerlust 2

bravery 10

honor 10

leadership 9

traditionality 10

family loyality 10

sanity 7

generosity 7

compassion 10

intelligence 9

honesty 10

cautioness 7

seriousness 10

and Jeor > Barristan > Catelyn.

Hm.

Actually none of the questions are directly correlated to any specific character . . . so answering any one question in a particular way won't directly cause a particular character in your report. Some of the scenarios are similar to events in GoT, but should be considered as separate events and only things that are mentioned should be assumed - so no mention of a pregnancy, it shouldn't be assumed.

Thanks . . .those are good options, I'll add them for the second edition of the quiz. There is no limit to the number of options that can be added and it should increase the accuracy to have a widedr range of options to choose from.

Thanks for your kind words.

About the Stark children . . . actually those are not included yet as characters. (Also Tommen) . . . I wasn't sure how to score them against 'adult' traits and their characters are still in flux.
