It got Locked in May, so we need a new one. Good title too.

On to the casting news, I quite like the actor so there's that. I don't know anything about Darhk apart from that dorky picture, so I have no preconceptions going in. I saw in a ScreenRant article something I thought was quite interesting:

He played Green Arrow in the excellent animated short DC Showcase: Green Arrow, was the voice of Floyd Lawton, a.k.a. Deadshot

Cool. I wonder also if this will mean a continued alliance between Ra's al Merlin and Ollie, or if Ra's will decide to bury the hatchet with Dahrk and team up as super villains. I'd be surprised if Merlin held to the same sort of warped honour that the league justifies its existence with. Also surprising, of course, is that Ollie thought Merlin as Ra's was a much better idea than Ollie as Ra's. I mean really, putting Merlin in charge of the deadliest group of people on earth who are not superheroes sounds like a really bad idea.

Per Comic Con panel, Arrow is now Green Arrow, complete with new suit, and Starling City is now Star City. The panel also made it a point to mention that Ollie will be cracking jokes next season. So, yeah, this is as close to a soft reboot as you can get. I'm not mad. Here's his new costume...

Click Me.

They also confirmed that Mr. Terrific will appear on the show next season, and they're making him gay. And, Diggle will be getting a costume...specifically, a helmet. Guardian?

That's great news about the soft reboot. I don't know much about Green Arrow's character, but I welcome the change all the same.

I look forward to Laurel looking a bit absurd if the tone is much lighter. She's always been the most overly-dramatic (well, she shares that with Thea), so I guess it will be hard to keep that up in a show where people are smiling and laughing. Good.

.

She did well enough with the lighter tone when she guess-starredin The Flash.

I do not remember her appearance in Flash well, but I'll take your word for it.

However, even if she does pull off being more light-hearted, I think it's a weird direction for the character. I can see Oliver being more relaxed as a few months of R&R with Felicity wears off on him, but what would be the justification of Laurel becoming more relaxed? Maybe if Cpt. Lance forgave her and they were all happy families again (perhaps return of Sarah via pit).

Thanks.

And I'm guessing the writers won't be too concerned with justifications overly-much.

It was the episode where Joe went to Starling to investigate the crash that killed Wells' wife. Cisco hooked her up with her Canary Cry. Memorable for it's Joe and Capt. Lance's: 'Do me a favour bro and just don't tell anyone about this body' moment.

White Canary will be on Arrow before Legends.

And quite possibly Hawkman will be on Arrow/Flash before Hawkgirl is on Legends.

I'm down with both of these.

I hold hope that Sara's return on Arrow is done correctly.

That could be fun.

I'm sure that Luarel will find out Canary is alive, but keep it from her dad for "reasons".

That's cool. With the Ra's story line bringing in magicky stuff there's less dissonance with having Constantine brought into the show than there might have been if Arrow had played it more or less straight as a tech hero show.

It's a neat way to placate constantine fans. It's a shame magic based characters that have previously appeared in a straight=faced form eg Brother Blood were used prior to bringing in magic.

The new season could do with a strong start to regain my trust/enthusiasm  though. I've more interest in the stupidest-man-alive that's for sure.
