What to make of a northerner leading the Warrior's Sons?

Recommended Posts

Not much information on Theodan the True apart from the fact that he's the leader of the Warrior's sons, trusted by the High Septon enough to lead the newly re established faith militant.

His house is a vassal to the northern LP.

The northern LP is about to engage the champion of R'hilor in Theodan's homeland. The faith has condemned Stannis so why the heck has he left the North now, of all times?

Here's what's actually known about Ser Theodan Wells: his first name's Theodan, his last name is Wells, and he's a ser. That's pretty much all about his identity from the books.

That he's a northman is repeated after a semi-canon source, which most likely guessed in the first place. The campaign guide was published a year before ADWD, and GRRM's name is not on its cover. Bottom line, I wouldn't be too concerned with this source. Their guess is probably just as good as ours, and their guess before the release of ADWD is actually worse than ours.

He's likely one of Roose's bannermen that was wounded and lost during the campaign. If this were true, he possibly had a renewal of faith due to a Septon or Septa healing him and decided to swear his sword to the faith because of it.

Yup all we know he is from the north from the RPG book. Not sure if its canon or not. If he is its likely from the lands near the Manderly lands that could explain why a northern is following the Faith of the Seven.

It would be far more interesting though if he was from the branch in Dorne. Also isn't it weird that a house has branches in the North and Dorne?
