ASOS: Arya, Jaime, Tyrion, Bran, Catelyn.
AFFC: Cersei, Jaime, Brienne
ADWD: Reek, Asha, Arya and Bran.
honourable mentions to ser Barristan, Davos, Tyrion and Jon

I really enjoy all of them, but I am particularly fascinated by Reek,Brienne and Arya, and was surprised to enjoy Jaime's and Cersei's a lot.

Catelyn

She is shrewd, reflective, introspective, courageous, and perseveres no matter how dire the situation gets. She's the epitome of strength of womanhood to me. "Not battle courage perhaps... but a woman's courage."

Pre-ADWD, Tyrion's chapters are quite good. We see so much through his eyes, and his accounts of events like Blackwater and the Red Viper are some of my favorites. In ADWD, not so much.

Jaime, Arya, Jon, and Catelyn also have some of the better chapters. Sansa and Theon have improved as the series has gone on.

GRRM likes to throw out Faulkner's quote "The only thing worth writing is the human heart in conflict with itself" and that quote entails Jon' story more than any other.  So Jon is the best POV IMO.  Although Theon's and Tyrion's(pre ADWD) are also very good.

I think Daenerys fits that conflict even more than Jon tbh. She is constantly trying to balance between Mysha and dragon.

I came to make the same comment

why i think dany fits more is ..she is always having a conflict with her heart

for better or worse she makes her decisions when she is conflicted and gets her hands dirty ..

but jon always gets a help and somehow doesnt get his hands dirty unless you count janos beheading ..

And in ADWD, Jon is juggling The NW, the Wildlings, his Vows, the War vs the Others, Stannis, NW neutrality, Northern Politics, his family, his noble heart etc.  What does "Guard the realms of men" mean? Are the wildlings included in that? What about Alys Karstark and fArya? I also go back to AGOT, ACOK, and ASOS and what was happening with Jon's heart as well.  Jon had to choose between trying to avenge his father or staying true to his vows, he had to kill Qhorin Halfhand, he had to choose between Ygritte and the NW, he had to choose between Winterfell and legitimization vs his vows.  Dany's heart has been conflict and she has made tough decisions, but Jon's heart is in more conflict and he has had to make much tougher decisions, IMO.

I disagree. See Drogonthedread's post above. Jon is always given a convenient out thus far, Qhorin ordering him to kill him, Summer saving him after he wouldn't kill the old man, Ygritte dying, etc. Jon is much more of a typical fantasy protagonist. And there's nothing wrong with that, I just feel Daenerys is the more complex character.
