Rhaegar was already in his twenties when Dany was born. Rhaegar is not going to wait until he's in his twenties to marry. His duty was to give the realm an heir. But yeah, they would have gotten along. Dany would be deferential at first but will eventually wear the pants in the family. But if they had gotten married then Dany would not have hatched the dragons. Everything happens for a reason and the hardships and sacrifices that Dany went through, the death of Rhaegar, all were given to bring the dragons back into the world. Rhaegar and Dany would have brought peace and prosperity to the realm but it would have done nothing to prepare against the Others. Rhaegar can read all of the history, prophecies, myths, and scrolls all he wants but knowledge can only take you so far without the means to fight the enemy. And Dany is well-travelled, she experienced many cultures, speaks many language. The education that she is getting now is invaluable and not something you can learn in King's Landing from a book.
