Rewatching: Questions and Comments

I'm currently rewatching seasons 1-5 and noticed a few things:

1) Is this guy a Targaryen?

http://s1.ibtimes.com/sites/www.ibtimes.com/files/styles/pulse_embed/public/2015/05/26/game-thrones-season-5-spoilers.jpg

I noticed in the first episode when the Others attack Sam and the Night's Watch that this guy has long silver hair. All the other Others have kept their natural hair colors so it's not from age I'm guessing. Would love to hear theories about a Targ leader, not sure if there's any history in the books even though I've read them...

2) Dany in the House of the Undying is edited down a lot from the books. We're left with three scenes: her in the throne room, empty and burned from above (dragon attack) in the snow. Thinking this means she arrives too late since she's alone. Then she's at the wall, alone again - so I'm guessing she will definitely be at the Wall before the end of the series. Then she is with Drogo and her baby, which obviously can not be in the future. Or could it be she has three options - what will happen (a conquest of a deserted city), what should be (the wall), and what can not be (Drogo and her family)?

3) I think it is painfully obvious after watching Season 3 again that Jon will be resurrected by Melisandre. It seems every line and camera shot is for a reason - why else would we have four episodes of the Brotherhood without Banners, who has a red priest resurrect Beric 6 times if not to prove that red priests/priestesses can resurrect the dead? Enter Melisandre at the wall...with Jon dead...

4) Beric has a real flaming sword - could he be Azor Ahai? He was probably resurrected around the time of the red comet as well, but I feel like no one considers him in the Azor Ahai prophecy. Could the BWB win the end game after all?

5) I like to think that Sam somehow wins in the end, but maybe I've watched too much Lost and relate him to Hurley/GRRM too much...

6) For all who think Game of Thrones mistreats women, I've noticed that every character who is horrible to women is killed by a woman (Geoffrey - Olena, Arya's list - Arya, the 3 soldiers who hung the whores - Brienne, etc). This is great and offers some awesome foreshadowing if you're into it.

Sorry it's a bit all over the map. Would love to hear thoughts and theories or what you noticed on your second time around.

Regarding number 2, I think that when she was in the throne room it is showing KL after cersei has destroyed kings landing with wildfire and they'll be nothing left of KL. Maybe then she heads north to the wall, only thing left to do is fight against WW, and ultimately she dies (which is why drogo and her son are there, perhaps representing her afterlife) just some thoughts :)

1) Probably not. I think he's just a WW.

2) I think what Snowhere fast said is a pretty good answer. I think there's no doubt she'll arrive at the wall before the end of the series and possibly will die (hence the afterlife scene).

3) Jon will certainly be resurrected. But, it's also a possibilty he'll warg into Ghost. But, considering the show has not shown any of Jon's warg powers, that is unlikely. He'll probably be resurrected by Mel, or (maybe) become the leader of the WW's. All speculation.

4) I don't think Beric is AA, there's just so little information for us to believe he is. Plus, he doesn't meet the requirement for AA. Not all the requirements, anyways. It's most likely Jon, Jorah, or Dany.

5) Yeah, I doubt Sam will win. lol. Not saying it couldn't happen, though.

6) GoT is a high fantasy story. They usually take place in medieval Europe, which was a time when women were used to make alliances, or were married for political reasons. They weren't mistreated as much as they just didn't have basic human rights. Don't forget about all the men that are mistreated, Theon being the main one. It's funny because when Theon is flayed and castrated, everyone laughs. But when Sansa is "raped" by her new husband, it's a huge controversy and senators have to put their thoughts out on Twitter about how bad it was. An interesting connection indeed about how the bad men are killed by women. Perhaps karma?

I'm on my third viewing, it's very interesting still. Enjoy!

Bit of a difference: 1) One of these events (Theon) happened in the books so what is their be outraged about, 2) Theon was still viewed as a villain by the audience for what he did in Season 2 so few felt bad for what happened to him, 3) What happened to Theon is important plotwise because he the becomes Reek who help the Boltens take Moat Cailin while Sansa rape will mostly likely not seeing as Stannis is died so she can't help him retake WF

Number 2)  I always perceived this a fantasy trap.  Had she become enamored with Drogo and her baby, she would have forgotten she was in the HOTU, and lived in this fantasy alternate reality. To "beat" the magic, she must remain true to who she is, and reject the happy fantasy to return to the real world.  This is an extremely common fantasy trope, and someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this exactly the case in the book scene?

I'm liking Snowhere's thoughts a lot.

In regards to the women, I'm a raging feminist and actually appreciate the portrayal of women on the show for its historical context - but think HBO/GRRM caught on that the women audience likes revenge most of all ;)

Stannis burned Shireen, killed by Brienne. Slave trader trash talking Dany, killed by Dany via dragon. Night's watch mutiny dude raping all of Craster's wives, killed by one of Craster's wives.

Makes ya wonder who's going to get Ramsey in the end :)

Thank you :)

I never noticed that before, that's actually pretty cool! I really really hope it's Sansa who kills him, I will be disappointed if theon does it to be honest!

4) We could be looking at some kind of foreshadowing here. A red priest resurrects the guy with a flaming sword - Jon is dead and a red priestess resurrects him. Not sure how Jon will have a flaming sword but it does seems like a good way to kill wights / white walkers.

5) I'm hoping Sam ends up as Lord of Horn Hill, marries Gilly and has a bunch of children, but this is GoT, so Sam will probably help save Westeros and then sacrifice himself for the greater good. Maybe Sam's final scene will be him returning to Gilly, but my guess is that once he drops Gilly at Horn Hill that will unfortunately be the last they see of each other.

At the end of season 5, Ramsey is seen cleaning his blade in the middle of a field of dead soldiers only two episodes after Hardhome. It's clear he's not even considering burying them, much less burning them. I think Show Ramsey is going to see that field again.

I was rewatching an episode from season 3 and Mance instructed Tormund to take '20 good men' haha

Haha yeah, I noticed that too the other day when rewatching! Also noticed Bronn say in an early ep all he needed was '10 good men' to impregnate the Eyrie. Also made me laugh

I think the shot that showed the dead bodies after that battle was a bit of foreshadowing..
