Watch, Watched, Watching: Blame is safer than praise

I just finished watching the pilot of The 100. Overall, I found that I enjoyed it quite a bit. Even though teenage angst isn't quite my cup of tea, and the acting can be terrible in places, the whole concept is just absolutely fascinating, and I just can not wait to explore all of the possibilities. Overall, I'm glad I came across this show.

Bear a little with season 1. It can be quite bad.

But if you do, you'll be in for a hell of a ride in season 2.

One of the best shows of the year.

I am three episodes in to The 100, and I am really enjoying the show. The critiques I had for the pilot are still valid, but man are these writers good. They are certainly not afraid of pulling off big and unexpected moves.

I found the first part of season 1 just comically bad (really most of the season, but it did get better towards the end). I started season 2 thinking it would be my "so bad it's good" show for the year, but season 2 was legitimately awesome. If you're enjoying season 1 that much, I'm looking forward to what you think about season 2.

I've for some reason decided to re-warch all of Kevin Smith's movies that star Jay and Silent Bob. So I watched Clerks yesterday, Mallrats today and Chasing Amy follows tomorrow.

I had almost forgotten how insanely quotable Clerks is.

37?! :D

Those 3 are his best by far, but I like Dogma as well.

So, I am 10 episodes in to The 100 now. (First season of course). The initial four episodes were really gripping, and I enjoyed them, but the middle episodes were fairly cringe worthy. A lot of the plot happens for no logical reason at all except for how do we get hot kids to screw? It is picking back up now, and the premise is just so good that I will keep watching.

One final thought...
If people keep dying, they are going to have to rename the series The 10 by Season 3
Last night I watched the first two episodes of Elementary, season 3.

I got thrown a curve ball from the gitgo in the first ep. -- and I am not sure I like it . . . .  For those who have already watched season 3 of Elementary, questions:
Was the addition of the Kitty character a good idea?  Do we ever get interested in her for her own sake that way we got interested in Watson for her own sake?  Does she screw up the relationship that Watson and Sherlock had been developing so satisfactorily in the previous two seasons -- and no, I don't mean any shipping or romance -- that was part of what made what Watson and Sherlock were making of their developing relationship both interesting and satisfying.  So, o no -- in this season I've already seen hints in these two first episodes that Sherlock is now yearning for Watson -- please tell me NOT SO!  Many thanks.  :)
Watched Chinatown for the first (first!) time the other day. How I survived so long workout seeing that for so long I don't know. Nicholson is his prime is something to behold.

That's a fucking brilliant movie.

I'm watching these 70's or 80's p.d. James mysteries about Adam Dalgliesh. Pretty true to the novels...with that being good and bad...but Roy Marsden is a find. Really compelling/charismatic actor, despite looking like a HS principal.
I had similar concerns about Kitty, but I ended up thinking she was a good addition to the show.
Has anyone watched the new show The Whispers?  I started watching the pilot but I'm not sure I want to invest any more time in it if the show isn't so great.

It's had a couple of really excellent episodes, but on a whole it is pretty average summer tv. I won't miss it when it's over next week.
Having gotten through more episodes I'm inclined to agree with you about Kitty.
I'm watching Freaks & Geeks on Netflix right now and after a rough few episodes at the start (including a very rough pilot), I've really warmed to the show. Lots of great characters and a very nice balance between the humor and the more serious stuff. Now that I'm invested I'll be even more disappointed once I finally get to the last episode just before the show was cancelled.

Also, holy crap on how many people who are bigs stars now but cut their teeth on this show. Seth Rogan, James Franco, Jason Segel, plus Rashida Jones and Lizzy Caplan? Like an incubator for comedy this was.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the music is awesome too.
