Jerol
Well, it's either laugh or cry, but trust me between the authors they omitted and the hacks/miscreants they included you might want to punch your monitor. And yes, they consider Goodkind a great writer... http://www.buzzfeed.com/awesomer/fantasy-forever#.erB8wVReA
Howdyphillip
When C.S. Lewis's Narnia series is rated right below Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth you know that there are some serious issues with this list. That isn't mentioning that three incomplete series are rated over Tolkien.

It's strong points are strong, but it's got flaws, and as you said...it's like totally unfinished. As to the rest of y'all, I think reading Malazan traumatized me, and I'm afraid to read more of the supposedly good fantasy. I think it's all on Hobb's shoulders now. Darth Richard II
Malazan kicks Kvothe in the balls! Edit: OK, actually looking at list, i was about to say it isn;t as bad as I thought, then I saw Outlander and flipped my desk. What the shit. Also man, Richard K Morgan is a happy looking fellow! (yes, I'm joking) This does cover quite a few of the better-known epic fantasy series, actually. Merits of the superlative claim and exact hierarchy are debatable, obviously. Zizoz
The article claims to list "the truly great fantasy series written in the last 50 years", so Narnia shouldn't even be on there.
polishgenius
The article claims to list "the truly great fantasy series written in the last 50 years", so Narnia shouldn't even be on there. Neither should LotR. But yeah, it's a dreadful, dreadful list. Nearly but not quite as bad as the one made by IGN a few years ago.
Darth Richard II
Not quite as bad as that one site that guy made and kept starting posts about a few years back.
Castel
It has Bakker, that's all i need! Seriously, ranking things causes problems and rarely seems to solve anything, especially for suitably ambitious lists like these.
Joe Abercrombie
Any list that puts me relatively near the top is a creditable good faith effort in my eyes.
polishgenius
Not quite as bad as that one site that guy made and kept starting posts about a few years back. Yeah, that was dreadful. The writer clearly hadn't read several of the series they were listing.

The Marquis de Leech
Sanderson 2nd amd Lightbringer 5th is quite egregious, imho... Brooks, Goodkind, and Paolini are ranked ahead of Bakker, Donaldson, and Peake. There's no Gene Wolfe, no Tad Williams, no David Gemmell.
Darth Richard II
No Kate Elliott,
Darth Richard II
Well it's fantasy only so no Wolfe isn't that suprising at this point.
Xray the Enforcer
That list is so fucking bad I have to double-post about it. No "New Sun." No "Dagger and Coin" No Tim Powers No Jane Yolen No Daniel Abraham NO TAD FUCKING WILLIAMS?! At least two works published more than 50 years ago. In short, fuck that list. Burn it to the ground and salt the earth under it.
