An Opposition spokesman called the Prime Minister gutless in not raising the issue with his Australian equivalent. John Key's response was that the Opposition "was backing rapists and murderers". The Speaker refused to make him apologise, so the Opposition walked out, and then later (unsuccessfully) tried to sack the Speaker.That was yesterday. Today? The Prime Minister is still refusing to apologise, while the Speaker (who is supposed to be neutral) is cheerfully kicking out female MPs who want to talk about how offensive the notion of rape is to them. A month ago Key was (rightfully) acting pissed at us, but as soon as push comes to shove her chooses his global side over the country he's supposed to lead and plays domestic politics with it.
