LEFTOVERS .. 2% of threads disappear (SPOILERS)

Of course we are missing the entirety of discussion regarding this season. I think that it is hands down the best show on right now, and the shame of it is no one is watching. This last episode may have contained the finest acting performance in a scene between two women in American TV. I can not think of another scene in any show that I have ever watched that I would consider better. In a just world, this show would get every Emmy nod possible and would last 10 seasons. We probably only have four episodes left though...

This might be the best thread title ever. I agree with everything you said. This is my favorite show right now and it really deserves serious Emmy recognition. Regina King and Carrie Coon were brilliant and that is one of the greatest scenes ever. Every single member of the cast has played their part great. If this is not renewed for a third season it'll be the biggest travesty.

Well done on the thread title lol.

I completely agree wrt the scene between Nora and Erika in the latest episode,  probably the best the show has done to date. It gave me chills. Carrie Coon is hands down my favorite actress working right now.

Sadly, you're probably right about it not getting picked up. From what I've heard the ratings aren't great.  It's a damn shame. This will absolutely become a cult classic in the years to come though. It really is some of the best tv I've seen.

Yep, great show.  Thought they jumped the shark in the first episode this season, but immediately brought it back in the next episode and continued to kill it for the rest of the episodes so far.

Everyone knows the acting is great and I don't think there is a weak link in the cast, but the best part of this show for me is how damn good the music is.  They pull from all sorts of genres and it always perfectly fits the mood of the scene.

I would want 5 more seasons of this show, so it sucks to hear about its poor ratings.  I wonder if there is some sort of end game in the mind of the creators of this show.  I would hate for there to be some great conclusion that was designed for season 4 and we will never get there.  I think this is a story that could have an amazing finale which every other show fails at doing.

On a side note, can anyone tell me why Nora and Regina King's character got into that argument?  It was a great scene, full of passion, but I'm not sure what they were so upset over.  And was that Nora throwing the first stone (literally, not figuratively) I couldn't tell who that was.

I personally believe that the source of the tension between Nora and Erika is that they are just too similar and it makes the other uncomfortable. Both of them have deep seated issues blaming themselves for the disappearance for their kids, yet both women know that this isn't a rational thought. They try and convince themselves otherwise, but watching the other person's actions keeps getting in the way of that.

I thought the episode was a tiny bit of a step down from the previous one, but Nora singlehandedly saved it (doesn't she always?), especially with her reaction to the Azrael theory. That was great.

Personally, I hated season one, but I'm kind of digging this one.

I didn't get a chance to sit down and watch the new episode until a couple nights ago.  Needless to say that, when I ran in to check out the flurry of activity I had been avoiding, I was a little peeved to discover that our thread itself had been a victim of sudden departure!

Anyway, another excellent episode.  Carrie Coon continues to slay, and Regina King was equally phenomenal in their one-on-one scene. Now, how about that surprise call from Laurie?  Has Tom abandoned her to pick up Holy Wayne's torch?

That was my favorite episode of this season.  The scene Howdy refers to is indeed great.   I also liked this one because just about every scene was related to the WTF? question of the show.

Absolutely loved the acoustic guitar version of our main theme song.

I mentioned at the end of the last thread.... The most unique thing about this show, is that --other than Nora-- no one is likeable in this show... and I'm not sure if it's Nora, or Carrie Coons I like so much.... everyone is either a rock throwing, sleep walking, violent basket case.... or a religious nut... yet I love the show.

The acting and writing are fantastic...

Jill is likeable imo. She has every right to be mad at her mom for leaving, and her dad for acting like a nut.

Even when this show has an episode that seems like it's taking a break, it will deliver a Holm style head kick at the end. What the fuck, The Leftovers? Why are you so good at this, and why can nobody else seem to get it right?

Justin Theroux is in the middle of a McConaughey-like tour de force performance right now. He's so god damn good. Everybody on this show is so good. Jill was great, Laurie was great, Patti was great- everything was just great. And this was probably the least impressive episode of the season. I'm just along for the ride at this point. Wherever you want to go, I'm there The Leftovers.

I completely agree about Patti. She steals every scene she is in. And that is saying a lot with the performances from this cast.

Kevin's trip into madness is a fun ride. Or is he really sane? I loved his convo with Patti before his bottoms up. That was one great ending for the episode.

Now that John's dad said he cured tower guy, I'm wondering whether he actually saw Patti with Kevin a few episodes earlier. I love these curveballs. As much as I enjoyed last season, this season has really been blowing it away.
