MiniMitch
So what's the deal with Jalabhar Xho? Apart from being accused of being one of Maragery's secret lovers, he hasn't done much. There must be a reason why he's still in the books. We know he's in King's Landing to try and get help to reclaim his seat, but with that denied, why didn't he just give up? What role do you think he will play in the later books?
Lord Lannister
I think he's just a bit of flavor. Claimants have a way of not giving up no matter what. If he left, he'd basically be the Beggar King mark II. So why not hang around court, live in relative comfort while hoping you'll get a helping hand? While that could be a fascinating short story one day, I don't think the Summer Isles are going to play a big role in the overall context of the story. Pod The Rod
He's flavor. Exiled princes and nobility were common as dirt in medieval Europe, and he's part of what GRRM adds to make it feel that much more like a real medieval setting. He won't play any meaningful role in the story, certainly, but not every character has to. Quentyn was on the money here.

"Maybe next year".But Jalabhar seems pretty chill about it.That's not the anti-Viserys. It's exactly like Viserys. Except for the being pretty chill part. Maybe he's a deux ex machina and will be like, "You guys need obsidian? Why didn't you say so before? That shit literally grows in trees down at the Red Flower Vale!" Bloody Ben Blackwood
Maybe he should ask Dany, so she can spend the next book trying to rule the Summer Isles with him a new husband, along with her Dothraki. Another internship before her 'real' job

Another internship before her 'real' jobI'm 100% behind this idea.On a more serious note, he was among those arrested, and is currently under Qyburn's "care" in the dungeons. So his part in the story may be done. It would be kind of funny if he turned out to be Margaery's actual lover, but everyone sees him as so inconsequential that they don't even consider that possibility. Knight and Dayne
He's also apparently a very skilled archer, so there's that. The most interesting thing about Jalabhar Xho to me is that he never leaves King's Landing. He's pretty constantly at court, in processions, filling out honor guards and whatnot, even as everyone around him rides off to war, schemes their way into and out of favor, dies, or otherwise removes themselves. He must truly be out of options to have stuck around that long; it seems like he should have found somewhere else to be about the time of the riot.
