Best Fighters of Westeros

Thoros of Myr is very intimidating with the flaming sword and has defeated the hount in melee on a consistant basis, was first into the fortress of Pyke during the Greyjoy rebellion and has been mentioned since book one. He is often overlooked.

My personal opinion of fighters, not duelists or knights fighting in meelee tournament.

Fighters as to their capability of surviving in a fight.

1. Arthur Dayne (NUFF SAID)

2. (Young)Barristan Selmy

3. Gregor Clegane

4. Robert Baratheon (warhammer)

4. Khal Drogo (was said to be one of the finest warriors during his lifetime)

5. Rhaegar Targaryen

6. Sandor Clegane

7. Oberyn "The Red Viper" Martell

8. Areo Hotah

9. Strong Belwas

10. Jaime Lannister or Victarion Greyjoy (feel he is underreated, but couldn't deside which of them to choose)

And with gregor, i find it even tougher. we know he can fight, but honestly, i chalk up a lot of that to his freakish strength. i think he would kill a lot of people in single combat, but that doesn't always necessarily mean that he's a great fighter. he flat out got beat by oberyn, and having seen bronn fight the same way against egan, we can make an assumption that bronn would have given him a decent fight too since he would have employed a similar tactic. while gregor may be able to kill lyn corbray, loras tyrell, garlen tyrell, or barristan selmy with his size advantage, would he have been able to defeat a fighter as skilled as those but with less size advantage like his brother? or even greatjon umber?

This.

People overestimate Gregor, he's but a brute with some sword skills.

Thoros of Myr should be on that list. And I'm not even going to refer to him not only being a great swordsman but also a capable sorcerer.

Any post in this thread that includes Loras on the list but excludes Brienne, who punked him out, is a joke and deserves to be ignored entirely.

6. Brienne- she beat loras

8. Ser Loras Tyrell- he almost beat brienne in the melee and took Riverrun.

Glad to see this mentioned. Too many rating Loras above Brienne

First of all, I don't think there's proof that Grey Worm is any better than any other Unsullied. I think they're all pretty equal.

Second of all, Xho is never described as a talented marksman, as far as I recall. However, there is this one Summer Islander who is in command of the Golden Company's archers. He's described as a superb marksman, and so is Balon Swann (I think the quote was: "Good with a lance, better with a morningstar, superb with a bow.").

Oh, and I think Drogo is better than Caggo. Living men give a bit more of a fight than corpses in armor, after all.

In the tourney of the hand, the top 3 archers by a big margin were Anguy, Balon and Jalabhar. Caggo had a valyrian arakh too, which gave him a big advantage (I am allowing valyrian weapons as counting towards their ability)
