Best of Tourney

I wanted to keep this off the actual Tourney Schedule post so things there don't get too cluttered. Post your thoughts and reactions to the Tourney here!

So far, I think the Tourney is pretty awesome. I give kudos and thanks to the Admin for coding and handing all the minutiae. I love that an RP Tourney can have upsets, hopes and dreams, challenges, fear, danger, blood and guts, pageantry, and life. To that, I give props to the very creative and talented Players. I've learned more about each of you in a day than I have in a month of trying to figure out +cdb/views.

I am of the Chekhovian (Anton Chekhov) mindset when it comes to RPing. Sometimes the seemingly minor events of life can spiral a person to newer heights, brighter dreams, vainer aspirations, or more desperate lows. The inner psychoses of BoD is quite breathtaking to experience. For that I thank you one and all.

Here's to the continuation of exciting twists and turns.

A few of the highlights for me so far:

Ser Janden and Ser Axell -- they keep going and going and going...

Reyna -- calling it out IC and commanding for someone to just fall already.

Ser Bonifer -- after defeat, leaving the Fields. (poetic simplicity in the midst of all the pomp and circumstance.)

The Whole Dornish Contingent -- what a great turnout! (I forget the name of the Dorne woman, the one with the twin, but she is scarier than all the others...)

Ser Janden's quick rise to fame.

Rosalind's quietude amidst the chatter.

Ser Triston's flip off his horse!

Ryssa's enthusiasm and energy. So infectious.

Marian and all her whispering. Intrigue alert intrigue alert...

Prince Cadan's fall and the subsequent turmoil.

The Jousting Lord! yay. Bring him back bring him back.

Thanks for starting the thread, Ammena! There have been so many awesome points so far that I don't know if we'll have enough room to mention them all.

As I've only got to compete on Sunday and showed up for a party after the jousting on Monday, I haven't gotten to see as much, but what I have seen makes me so glad to be a part of this fantastic story all of our characters are creating together. Here are some of my favorite points so far:

- Bryon vs. Cadan -

I don't know if Bal deliberately put Ser Bryon up against the Prince of Dorne on purpose, but if I could have picked any challenger on the field to go against, it would have been Cadan. In any case, Thank you, Bal!

- The Ladies -

I absolutely love the comments from the ladies in the stands. I can just feel their eyes upon the knights, weighing in on their approval or disdain behind their dainty hands, building an empire of rumors and aspirations as the knights strive so valliantly to knock each other down.

- The Valemen -

It's nice to live vicariously, especially when you've already lost! I think I had more fun on Sunday just watching after Bryon had lost his joust than I would have had actually jousting. I thought I was going to have a heart attack waiting for an outcome on Janden and Axell's tilt and Triston's dismount on the first day was priceless! Sadly, I missed Triston's win on Monday, but I had a blast dragging the drunk lunk to the Saltcliff Manse for the feast. Congrats to both Janden and Triston on some awesome RP! You guys make it fun to be from the Vale.

- The Feasts -

I'm still waiting for more feasts, but the one at the Saltcliff Manse on Monday was fantastic. A big thanks to Reyna for throwing the shindig and for inviting the King, whom I got to meet (a big day in a young knight's life). And of course, thanks for the wine!

- The Admin -

Any actor knows that the most important part of any produciton is the stage crew. I'd like to say a big "thank you" to all the admin and anyone else who has been helping to set up the tourney and keep the game running smoothly all this time. The code is sleek and user-friendly, definitely easy for a newb like me to learn. Blood of Dragons has easily become my new favorite online RPG. Thanks, guys and gals!

There are some odd omissions from the list so far. Namely:

-The Green Oak getting chopped down. I'm surprised none of you have mentioned it yet.
-Princess Rhaena named as Queen of Love and Beauty by Ser Almer on the first day. She's 11, and Almer's mistress was passed over for the honor. I would think that'd raise an eyebrow or two, but I guess not.
-The Stormbreaker's rage issues. I pity the whores in Flea Bottom, they're going to suffer for his loss to Ser Aidan.
-Prince Cadan's dramatics. 'Nuff said.
-The Dornish knights in general. They're getting a lot of sympathy from their groupies, but not doing very well on the field, yet.

Actually, yeah. Now that you mention it, that has been a highlight so far ;)

Hah, I checked my sheet today to see if I had chosen the Lucky asset and forgotten. ;)

Thanks for all the shout-outs! I'm having a lot of fun with this character and all you fine players. I need to review my logs, though, and catch up on all the details I'm missing in larger scenes. :D

The Vale rocks.

Out of self-interest, I'll add the epic contest between the Knight of the Twilight and the Iron Serpent, which managed to surpass Ser Axell and Ser Janden, I believe. Lots of flying lance shards, and two knights who refused to give in. I need to count just how many passes were made and how many lances broken between them.

Some highlights (by NO means all, there are simply too many to remember) of recent Tourney and post-Tourney events:

Tourney day 3 (the crazy March madness):

Sarmion nuff said. What fun to watch.

Almer you could just feel him measuring out the competition for the finals.

Dagur and Aidan The Serpent meets the Twilight: a new song for the minstrels.

The Waters Family well done bravo!

Janden oh boy. Now that's the kinda bravery to try. Loved the tension. I went: eh? (stop typing, read again) OH BOY (deletedeletedelete) wait for it, wait for it, (there's the Baratheon roar), SPAM, repose.

Reyna's messenger man for making a killing in profits.
so many other great moments... I'll have to look back and spot more of my personal fav's.

Post Tourney event (Dornish Hosted Feast):

The Party Setting I'm a sucker for great environmental desc's. Gave so much for everyone to play with.

CORRENT and every single person who reacted to him.

Almer's reaction to Corrent! Had me laughing smiling laughing.

Rosalind with a staccato pose that made my heart whimper with sympathy.

Cadan for an eerie taste at the dangers of playing with Sand Vipers.

The Jewel dances with the Cockatrice what were they whispering????

Reyna for setting the party standard high. Must be a Highgarden in RL.

Carmella for subtle intrigue. She knows how to do it right. You could feel her watching the room. Scary.

Triston for touching the food and putting it back!

Seth's MOM god I love her.

Sarmion's reactions to his sister god I love him. just awesome.

Janden looking for a date. just classic.

Alyce for keeping some semblance of sanity in all the madness.

Marian and Seth for being... well... real cute when facing Esme Blackwood!

Cadan's Sister You. Me. Dance! You suck. Next! YOU. Me. Dance! (Gotta love it.)
again, there were so many great moments at this event as well. Too many for me to remember atm.

I so highly encourage everyone to get out there for the rest of the tourney. There is simply some good good RP to be had. Hearts are racing, Bodies are breaking, Blood is boiling, Spirits are rising. Lot's of fun to be had. Can't wait for the weekend finals!

Did you really surpass us? I don't remember it going on that along... Granted, I wasn't as engaged, either.

I think Axell and Janden did go very long, and may have gone longer than anyone so far, except perhaps the Weeping Knight and Ser Halbert. But not a lot of lances were broken. ;)

Tourney day 7: Joust of Love
Some personal fav's from day 7.

Seth Blackwood's proclamation to Marian Stark just before his first joust.

Ser Almer and his quiet chivalry. Elegantly undemonstrative.

The Black Lion. huh who wha? from a newb pov: I like the mystery/confusion.

The Jousting Lord!

Ser Dagur's rage.

The transformation of Joust of Love to Joust of Chaos. Unforced and unexpected turn of events, but so appropriately symbolic.

Ser Triston and his favor from a lady of the Vale.

Elyn Ryswell's response to Ser Bonifer just prior to the melee battle.

Melee battle between Ser Bonifer and the Weeping Knight

Unmasking of the Weeping Knight

Prince Cadan sending Prince Aegon to the ground in one pass.

The announcement of the Champion of the Joust of Love.
