What a wonderful cover. :) And the story sounds pretty good too.

It looks like it's out in Oct. in the UK... how about the US?

It didn't escape my notice that character called previously Mengele Grossbart is now called Manfred. Ah, the eternal power of censorship

I'm not really fond at all of that cover. Yeah the skull thing is clever, but it's been done before, and better.

UK cover art for Traitor's Gate by Kate Elliott.

Plus the inferior American cover art for the same.

I like that one. Pretty consistent with Lamentation's cover too.

I've been waiting to see what they came up with for Dragon Keeper. A shame to see this, much less impressive than the John Howe covers that were used for her precious series. They shouldn't have dropped Howe.

Oof, that is some bland cover art for Dragon Keeper.

I like the font, but that's about the only nice thing I can find to say about it. Who's the target audience for that design?

I agree. The dragon looks childishly drawn, which would lead one to think this may be a book for children. The dragon itself on the cover will tell mainstream readers that this is Fantasy, and will thus be avioided. But for Fantasy fans of the more traditional nature ( many of which are Hobb's market) this looks less impressive than what they are used to for Fantasy covers. It's the name of the author that has to carry a lot of weight here.

I agree. I thought the dragon looked a little pathetic, sickly even, but then I read a bit about the plot of the book which seems to involve caring for runt dragons or something like that, so perhaps the design is an attempt to reflect the storyline?

Still, a very bland cover. I hope the book is better.

I really liked the US covers for the Mistborn books, but I really like this cover. The only thing I think they could do to improve it would be to put the background in a negative - a black/gray sky would fit very well with the text. Fantastic ;) cover.

It's quite a surprise that Tor releases a decent cover for an Erikson book (beside the horrible green on the name).

Maybe more people will read what I consider Erikson's masterpiece and, without a doubt, the very best thing I ever read in fantasy and sci-fi. That book is my all time favorite (even if the first novella can't reach the awesomeness of the other two).

Cover art for the re-release of Dan Simmon's 'Carrion Comfort' - not sure who it's by.

They are certainly milking that King quote for all it's worth, which is probably quite a lot...
