Rules for this topic:

1) No discussion! This is a thread to post your suggestion(s) for actors to play the roles of various members of House Lannister. Non-sticky threads created by you and other posters are there for discussion instead.

2) Keep it brief. Provide an IMDB link, official webpage link, a brief explanation for why you'd think they'd be a good in a role, that sort of thing, but don't go overboard!

3) Keep in mind that we're interested in serious casting suggestions. $20 million a film stars will not be in the TV series as regulars. Think television actors NOT already involved as a lead in currently on-going series, Hollywood actors who've made forays into TV before and might do it again, and so on.

Eventually, we may run polls to figure out the "cream of the crop" and write nice, shiny official forum reports concerning these actors. But the main thing is, keep the ideas coming.

Here's the popular and do-able choices for the Lannisters:

Tricia Helfer as Cersei:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1065454/
Battlestar Galactica is wrapping up, so she'll probably be available.

Jason Lewis as Jaime:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0507314/
Seems to fit his description perfectly.

And of course, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0227759/
Need I say more?

As for Tywin, the popular choice seems to be Ed Harris, but I'm going to suggest Corbin Bernsen.

I'm voting for Jensen Ackles as Jaime Lannister.

He's got the right look, he's the right age, and continues to grow exponentially as an actor in everything he does. He has come very far in his time on Supernatural, and his performance in Ten Inch Hero is awesome. He's ready to take on the role of the Kingslayer.

Unfortunately the years have probably moved past him if the series aims to be more or less true to character ages, but I'll bring him up because George mentioned him a number of years ago as one of the actors that was sort of in his head when he started the series:

Kurtwood Smith as Tywin Lannister.

Kurtwood Larson Smith.

He played Red on That 70's show. Just dye his hair blond and he's good to go look-wise. He's done some sci-fi so he is unlikely to turn his nose up at the role like other actors might and he actually can act, judging from his performance in Dead Poet's Society.

I second Jensen Ackles as Jaime Lannister.

And Arianne Zuker as Cersei.

All right, my suggestions for the Lannisters. (This is my first post, I hope I do the linking right.)

Peter Dinklage for Tyrion Lannister
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0227759/
As said before, perfect.

Charles Dance for Tywin Lannister
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001097/
http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/content/images/...nce_396x222.jpg
A really underused actor, who has the look, gravity, coldness and strongness of Tywin.

Simon Baker for Jamie Lannister
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0048932/
Too bad he’s working full time now on The Mentalist

Charlie Hunnam for Lancel Lannister
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0402271/
Same goes for Sons of Anarchy

Tobin Bell for Kevan Lannister
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0068551/

Sorry for nominating German actors only, but they're excellent actors and probably not that expensive. ;)

Ken Duken woulld make a good Jaime - arrogant, pretty and a bit boyish

Kurtwood Smith as Tywin Lannister.

I had never thought about him for the role, but would be a great fit for the part.

Another suggestion for Tywin is christopher eccleston. He's got the range for the part. He actually played a comparable role as the Duke of Norfolk in Elizabeth. Mind you that particular part lacked some of the depth that Tywin would require but I think Eccleston has proven he could pull it off. He's also clearly happy to work on TV and has not hang-ups about either period pieces or sci-fi/fantasy.

I think Melinda Clarke would be a perfect Cersei. She looks very beautiful but also kind of... evil!

Kirkwood Smith had a role in the pilot for "Doorways", and George really liked him as a person and actor, he's a rock solid pro.

I fourth (fourth?) Peter Dinklage for Tyrion. I've thought this for years now, but yeah, if he's working on the next Narnia movie it may be out of the question :(

Who was the chick who played Atia (I think that was her name?) in Rome? She's obviously a realistic choice for Cersei, because she's worked with HBO before. Ah here we go: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0908116/ Her profile picture doesn't look much like her, but the way she was done up in Rome just screamed Cersei to me.

I've been re-watching Battlestar Galactica on DVD over the past few weeks and simply cannot watch it now without picturing Tricia Helfer (Number Six) as Cersei, and so I second that nomination. She has the perfect look and she does evil/ruthless very well.

Polly Walker (Atia on Rome, also already mentioned) has the right attitude and perhaps an even better overall look, although a legitimate gripe is that, at 42, she may be a bit old to play Cersei.

I always saw James Purefoy as a good Jaime, especially watching him play Marc Antony. Thought he would rock conveying Jaime.

I don't know if he has the acting chops, but Jason Lewis .. Crossing my fingers that a role can be found for him somewhere.

A popular choice for Jaime in many of the old casting threads was Josh Holloway, who plays Sawyer on Lost. He's an ex-model and one of People's 50 most beautiful people once, so that fits. He's a good actor and certainly has the physicality, though one would hope he can eliminate the southern accent. And of course, any Lost actor has the benefit of a pre-existing J.J. Abrams connection.

Speaking of the Lost connection, Evangeline Lilly wouldn't be half-bad as Cersei (remember, we don't have to cast blondes - tv/movie magic is a wonderful thing).
