I would definately love to see Amy as Ygritte, but just in case she's not available I think a good match would be Lynsey Bartilson who has a wild look to her without being too pretty.

How about Jonathan Pryce for Balon Greyjoy.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000596/
This picture of Balon looks a suspicious amount like him.

Well since the big cheeses are actually looking at this site, and considering the casting ideas put forth, I'd like to make a plug for some local lads and ladesses.

He's been mentioned in other casting threads but I think
Karl Urban would make a good Iron Islander, Northman (A Karstark perhaps), Watchman or Wildling. His roles in LOTR and Pathfinder show that he has a good Northern/Viking look about him. He's not an A-lister, so shouldn't be too pricey to hire

Possibly a bit old to play Theon, but if they age some Characters up a bit then he could do an aged up Theon very well. He could play a younger Balon Greyjoy during the time of the Iron Island rebellion (Flashbacks?), then be aged up if the series continues beyond GoT.

Lucy Lawless as one of the Mormont women.

Mance Rayder could be played by Ingvar E Sigurdsson . He's got a Northern/Viking look about him, so he could also play an Iron Islander, a Northman, a Watchman or some oher Wildling.

I also posted this in the "everyone else" thread. I see Steve Buscemi when I read Roose Bolton.

Bryce Dallas Howard would make a good Ygritte. If she can do a good accent that is.

My sister-in-law suggested Joe Jonas for John Snow.

Apparently he's one of those young Disney actors, so I was hesitant to post the name. But what the heck it would get those tweenies hooked on the series.

I think Jon Snow could be played well by Devon Graye, who has played the teenaged version of the eponymous character from Dexter.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1984458/

He is thin, and has the long, sometimes somber face needed for a Stark.

Nice call on Devon Graye for Jon Snow. He does a really nice job as young Dexter. The roles are also somewhat similar, with both portraying outcasts (one from his family, one from societal expectations).

Shauna Macdonald as Ygritte

Not a big name. She isn't afraid to get dirty - she has experience in caves. She'd look great with messy red hair.

Jon Snow: Patrick Fugit (the lead from "Almost Famous").

Okay, so he's 26, but we can Dawson Cast a little (he was cast as a teenager in 2002's "Saved!" and pulled it off pretty well). He does look young, he's a good actor, and he has just about the right amount of emo.

Big ups to Roy Dotrice as Maester Aemon.

Am I totally nuts for thinking David Schwimmer would work as Roose Bolton? Seriously. He's come a long way from Friends; watch Duane Hopwood to get a good idea of his actual chops. The biggest problem is that he'd be a bit of a name star for someone with more screen time than lines, but he's always how I pictured Roose: brooding, intellectual, unassuming, all hiding the monstrosities he is capable of. I'd like that much more than over-the-top crazy.

I would also totally cast Eric Balfour as Theon Greyjoy. He's got the right look and impressed me enough with his chops in his recurring role on "Six Feet Under" that I think he could pull off what Theon goes through.

Tobias Menzies (played Brutus on Rome) is pretty much what I imagine Theon to look like, but he's probably too old for the role now...
