needle
I just can't stand reading from a screen. Give me a good to honest book any day.
Jaqen the FatManderly
Library is free. Actual books, okay selection.
Stego
Wow, negativity. Most libraries suck for selection. Fee, I agree, but the economy is shit and people are cheap. (And even the pretentious around here seem awfully ignorant of the classics.)
Vrana
This is great, I read almost all my Checkov from my computer. Besides, my library has a shitty selection and even then only in swedish.
Chaldanya
Have read both Nightfall and Nine Billion Names of God - both of which are a cracking read. I'll check out some of the others. Thanks, Stego. N

GoN
I've read most of these, as I cut my teeth on the classics. But I love love love A Rose For Ecclesiastes by Roger Zelazny. Always fun to re-read. Cheers, Steg.
Xray the Enforcer
Nice list, Stego! I've read everything but the Delany (I know, I know!), DeCamp and Varley. Looks like I know what I'm doing after I finish Eifelheim. I also agree with Stego in that many libraries' collections are woefully inadequate when it comes to good genre fiction. Only in larger cities (with a significant number of branches) are you going to get collections that go beyond the bog-standard and the shit. Stego
These arent the best short stories, though they are some of them.... They are some of the best I could find for free. :P
needle
Sorry for being negative, Charlie :P I just stole a quick flick through the Lovecraft. I cannot read from the screen! I just skim. But it caught my eye that the cat was called 'nigger-man'. That just...made me laugh after the last few days ultra PCness round here. Stego
(I can't read off the screen, either.) But some people even PAY MONEY for a Kindle. (Kindling would be a more apt name, IMO)
GoN
I use to have a problem with it, but I think years of EJ has trained me to be able to read detail points on the screen. :P Can't imagine paying for a Kindle though.
Stego
I print out EJ. Yes, yes, I know.
mashiara
Thanks, Stego. I have a hard time reading off the screen too but my local library has almost none of the books I want to read, so I'll take whatever I'm offered. I'll definitely read these stories. I think I've read the Lovecraft one but I'm not even sure about that.
