The old thread dies and a new one wakes up in a tank of gelatinous goo. Let's do this ;)

And does anyone in their right mind think its a good idea to have hordes of armed civilians running around a military ship? I mean couldn't the military have confiscated this shit sometime around season 1? Even fleshed out, it still seems like a lame way to get a bunch of guns in the hands of Baltar's fanatics. Weak.

I think they're setting up a monotheists versus polytheists thing, which has been one of the core concepts of the show. But having a bunch of humans fighting for the One True God is something more fucked up than we've seen before. Agreed that the way it was done is lame.

EHK,

The Sons of Ares were introduced at the start of season 4. They're the guys who attack the commune the very first time, trying to grab Baltar. I believe there have been some other references to them as well.

Interestingly, the Battlestar wiki also notes that Zarek was behind the Sons of Ares in the first draft of that episode, and that he was the one encouraging them to go after Baltar and his cult. They dropped that, but another example of the kind of ideas they were kicking around about him.

Thats odd, I really don't remember them at all. Don't think I've missed an episode, so it must be my faulty memory. Fair enough.

Not the best episode. Right in the middle of the episode it struck me: WTF are they giving guns to civilians, why are the Cylons so hellbent of leaving the fleet. They came to the fleet to be safe from Cavil, but now they are thinking of leaving? Cavil is still around...

Just four episode left (and a telemovie), hopefully they will kick so much ass it hurts!

because obviously a lot of the humans still don't like them (remember the Mutiny?).

well the cylons want to leave because they have the final five and think they can procreate but clearly they need humans to procreate as we saw at the end.

As for giving Baltar and his harem guns... not sure I got that...

There was a scene that actually explained this in some detail and made it somewhat more understandable. However, they decided that a vital piece of plot explanation was unnecessary and cut it out so we could have yet more shots of Adama gawping at the Cylons fixing his ship. :stunned:

Recounting from the last thread, the idea was that the marines are stretched way too thin after the mutiny and were unable to keep order in Dogsville. The Cylons offered the use of Centurions for crowd control but Adama realised that was totally out of order, but it made him realise how desperate the situation had become. It was that sense of desperation (and possibly alchohol and drug-fuelled surreality) that led him to accept Baltar's offer of using his cult followers as a security force.

it's still a terrible idea. Especially since its BALTAR.

Which 8 was present at Ander's bedside?

Did they decide not to upload "Deadlock" just to be shitheads?  I guess I'll wait for the DVD release for the rest of the episodes of 4.5

"Deadlock" will be on Hulu.com this Friday or Saturday, apparently. They seem to have decided to hold episodes for Internet viewing until the week after the original airing.

It can still be purchased via iTunes, however.

Thanks.  If I had an Ipod I'd do that.

You don't have to have an Ipod, just a computer running iTunes. (And an iTunes account to buy with, of course.)

That said, the iTunes prices are highway robbery. $3? You do not make $3 off my viewing it on Hulu or even original airing, with commercials and all, I am pretty certain. Apple wants networks to price shows at $1, which sounds much more in line with what I would expect would be profitable without being extortionate. I could see the argument for $2 for certain shows. $2 for BSG is okay. But $3 per episode would add up to way too much cost for a series, it seems to me.

$3?? Now, I'll admit I've only paid series prices before, rather than per-episode, but that's still a huge jump. Is it in HD or anything for the extra cost? Or is it just one of the NBC negotiation things, perhaps? (I remember that iTunes didn't have it at all for a while due to not reaching an agreement with NBC.)

Just looked in my iTunes store -- yes, 3 is for the HD version, and it's 2 per episode for standard. (Or a bit under 32 for the season in standard def, or under 48 for HD.) Also, apparently, if you buy the HD version you also get a copy of the SD version for your iPod.

Yeah, $3 is for HD. I didn't realize it also included the Sd version. Huh.

It's almost like they're asking their fans to use underground methods of acquiring the remaining Battlestar Galactica episodes.

Not that I know anyone who would ever do that. No, sir.

I only wish I would have known about the necessity of using alternate means to watch the episode before now so I could have employed them sooner. SFC had been pretty good about having the episode up in a swift manner - hell, last Friday I watched the ep on their website at about 2am Eastern. For them to abandon that now only means that I abandon their website as a place to watch BSG.

I agree, they're asking for people to start obtaining episodes in dubious ways with this.   I, too, am above such illegal piracy, as is everyone I know.

:leaving:

This episode wasn't bad, but still not as fun as the three episodes preceding it.   The whole drunken Adama walking through the ship thing was overdone. I actually did enjoy the scenes between Bill and Saul, though.  Be curious to see what the status of Anders' memories will be once he wakes up.
