Dreams

Seventh Pup

So had a really horrible and vivid nightmare last night that my boyfriend was bit by a dog and then drown. During the dream I kept trying to wake up but couldn't, so that by the time I did I was really upset. He's over right now, so after a long hug, and some "I love you"s I decided to let him get back to sleep and hit the internet. (It's 4 am my time)

Now normally I dream very vividly, I've had all kind of strange and very real feeling dreams that range from rabbit babies and Bruce Willis taking me water skiing, to owl grandmother, to a Krypto the Superdog and Hulk fight to the death, Krypto won (I don't read comic books).

All and all it really sucks, and I wish I could just sleep. Anyone else plagued with an active sleep imagination? What causes it?

Edit to make the *&::> go away.

I've got really weird dreams, but mostly I like it. Makes sleeping more interesting.

The other night I had a dream that literally left me feeling sick when I woke up, though. Don't know if that's ever happened before. In the dream, 3-4 of my good friends came into the house I was in in the dream (not a house I've ever seen or been in before), armed with pool cues and intent on giving me a beating. Now, of course, within a few seconds, I had single-handedly disarmed them all and sat them each down in a chair. And here comes the disturbing bit. For the rest of the dream, they sat there quietly while I proceeded to thoroughly and unhurriedly destroy their faces with their own pool cues. I would take proper swings, breaking facial bones, crushing teeth, ruining eyes. They were just sitting there, not moving or making a sound. I was even sickened by my own actions in the dream, but for some reason I couldn't stop. The last thing I remember before waking up was some random girl telling me I'd actually vomited in my mouth while torturing my friends and now it had dribbled down my chin.

How's that for weird?

That would creep me out too, Erzulie.

I had a very weird dream a couple of weeks ago. I don't remember the setting or the way it started anymore, but somehow I started growing odd fleshy protuberances from my neck. The first one started out relatively mundane (compared to those that followed), a big red droop under my chin like a turkey wattle. But then from the left side under my ear started growing this thing like a christmas tree shape of stacked blobby stars with the larger ones closer to my neck and the smaller ones farther away, with more points on the larger ones, and each star was a different color, like the rainbow. I went to the doctor to see about what was causing it, and while I was in the waiting room, something started growing on the right side of my neck like a beating heart, all wet and drippy. The doctor saw me, and started asking about what plane trips I'd been on lately, and I said that I went to Bermuda with my boyfriend (I haven't, btw), and the doctor said it was caused by the plane passing through heavy radiation in the Bermuda triangle. He said I could have an operation to remove them, but more would grow.

Then I woke up.

Most of my really weird and vivid dreams are about war. I am always a soldier, but the wars and settings and even the enemies change. War dreams really do freak me out though. I always feeling like I missed someting...that there is something I should know but don't when I wake up.

I almost never remember my dreams, but I recently had one about going off to war. I was sitting around in the barracks in jeans and a t-shirt while the rest of my unit was getting ready to ship out. Since I've never been through boot camp, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing, and I was trying to figure out a way to ask, wasn't the military supposed to issue me a uniform at least? And, what do you even take to war anyway? It lasted awhile, I woke up, don't remember much more besides that general outline.

Another vivid dreamer here.

Last night I had a dream that someone smashed the front end of our car. But it was parked on the lawn, so the guy would have had to jump the curb and drive at a really weird angle to smash it. I just kept screaming "dude, what the fuck!" and he kept telling me he would fix it. But the front end was smashed like a pancake.

One of the weirdest dreams I had was being hugely pregnant, about to go into labour, and I was a guy. Very brief and very disturbing. I've also had dreams where there someone standing over me, and when I wake up I think I can see them. It's usually just the dresser in the corner, or the shadow of a tree outside, but it freaks me out every time. I watch waaay too many horror movies.

I had a dream not to long ago that Mr. Tyr was cheating on me with his ex. I woke up and punched him in the kidney.

I have vivid dreams every night, but I don't always remember them later on.

Tonight I had an extremely odd dream. Made odder by the fact that I also had dreams on Monday night... Two dreams in a seven day period is way way way above my going rate, so I'm hesitantly looking forward to having more dreams in my life.

Anyway, I was at this dinner theater type place to see my friend Jamie perform in a talent show. I was eating this giant meal, and filled up so much that I still had a big pork chop and steak on my plate. For whatever reason, I left before my friend could perform (I have a feeling he was supposed to be doing whip tricks, Indiana Jones style). It seems important that I didn't get a doggy bag for my food...

In any case, I went to a bar, where three or four of my old friends from work were. My old co-worker Amanda was there, and we were running up a giant tab on drinks and onion rings i vividly remember my manager talking about our $150 tab... Amanda's name got called for some big announcement. It turns out that she won a competition, so now shirts that she designed will be on sale at the bar, and she'll get a cut of the profits. I was wishing her congratulations, but she was really bashful about it, and kept trying to change the topic. For whatever reason I feel like at that point we were no longer in the bar, but in a barn loft... Kinda laying on straw and wood planks.

So apparently I miss my old friends from work and high school, and had some super munchies last night?

I love dreams - they're like my own private little movies! :P

As far as odd recent ones - there's this bar I sometimes go to with my friends. One friend put a (temporary) ban on it and we haven't been there since January. The other day I had a dream that the three of us were at a different bar watching a huge news story about some altercation involving lots of police, etc. at the banned bar.

Anyhow, I related this story to the non-banning friend and he said, "so even in your dreams we're not allowed to go there?"

My dream last night was about cavities. Yes, dental caries. Now, I am obsessive about my teeth and gum care, so I know the inside of my mouth pretty well (I've got one of those handy mirrors and scraper tools like the dentist does that I use to thoroughly investigate my teeth once a week or so.)

Anyway, in this dream, my teeth and inner mouth were totally deformed. I had a tooth growing from the side of my mouth that I didn't even know existed, and when I discovered it, it was totally rotten with three cavities and when I tried to floss around it it split in half (very graphic). Then the cavities started to spread to all my other teeth and I sprouted more rogue teeth in weird places in my mouth. The dream was so vivid and sensory ( I really felt the pain when my rotten tooth broke in two) that when I got up this morning I had to run to the bathroom and make sure all my teeth were in their correct places and still white and healthy!

Ack!
I've been having zombie dreams for the past month or two. They don't run but damn those fuckers are sneaky.
Do you have different kinds of zombie dreams? I have comedy zombie dreams, genuine OMFG ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!11 dreams, common or garden zombie nightmares, and random every day sort dreams about nothing important that just happen to have zombies in them. I'm pretty used to them now.

Occasionally I'll have horribly realistic dreams about pandemics (not featuring zombies). Those are the worst.

ETA: I suggest writing things down before trying to sleep if you have stuff on your mind and have trouble sleeping - that can stop something going round and round in your head incessantly which might be leading to weird dreams.

My dreams tend to go on forever.

So I'm at some guy's house, where a party of gay men is met and just chilling.

So I sit down on this banquette next to this other guy. He's a stranger to me but seemingly a nice young guy, who lies recumbent on the couch. There's a pile of change, quarters and pennies, between us. I shift in my seat at some point ... and the next thing I know the guy is sliding his hand into my pants through my open fly and on into my shorts. When I look down, he swiftly withdraws his hand. I get a good look at my fly, and I can see that there is change (I assume from the pile) in my shorts.

I rationalize this, in my dream, as somehow my fly was already open, and my shifting in the seat somehow caused the change to spill into my pants and so he was just reaching in to get it. I remove the rest of the change, zip up my pants and am prepared for that to be all -- when this guy kisses me. I'm taken aback but I move to hold him and kiss him back. He moves my hand to get more comfortable, and then I break forcefully away, standing up.

I've decided I don't want to be here. I leave the room, I don't look back. I tell myself that if I just go directly out of here and to Mitch, my RL boyfriend who, in my dream, is somewhere in the house unawares of what has transpired ... if I go straight to him then I can forget about what happened just now and can avoid the guilt.

Mitch is alone, asleep on the sofa in a darkened living room. I approach, kiss him, he wakes, smiling at me sleepily. I feel relief and warmth, with guilt/regret lingering in the very distant horizon.

And this is when I woke up.

I had a rather unusual dream tonight. I mean, how often do you make up Latin quotes in your sleep?
For those who didn't know yet, the opinion of an asshole is a hindrance, i. e. it is counterproductive to ask an idiot. Sadly, I only recall the translation, not the original Latin.

Basically I just have the OMFG ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE !11 dreams. There's nothing like waking up with a massive adreneline rush from chainsawing the shit outta a mall/mansion/basketball arena/barn/school bus/school full of zombies.

I had a weird dream just last night. There was a black bear in my bedroom. At first I thought it was a dog, then I realised "shit, there's a man-eating bear in my room." When I woke up I was already scrambling out of bed, trying to get to the door.

I've noticed I only ever have weird dreams if I eat something bad for me, or I fall asleep drunk. I'm betting the one last night was due to the easter eggs I scoffed.

Back in the fall, had a series of dreams where even after waking, it wouldn't dissipate until a solid 2-3 minutes after being awake. Usually once my eyes adjust to the darkness, and I realize the desk lamp isn't a serial killer/giant snake etc.

But it all started with a nightmare of Michael Chiklis' moon face coming through my window. Back in those days, the desk lamp was an ally and I was preparing to bludgeon Michael Chiklis with it.

Holy Fuck, Erzulie. I'm gonna go ahead and retract that board friend request I was about to send out.
I've read speculation that magnesium supplementation leads to more vivid dreams.
I think I remember hearing on one of those survivor-type shows (Survivor Man or Man vs Wild) that undernourishment also leads to more vivid dreams. At least that's what I thought he said.

I've had similar dreams where all of my teeth are falling out - it's never painful and far less disturbing than I imagine it would be if it were to happen in real life.

I've had that one a few times too... apparently it means this:

interpretation

I've also had the 'back in school totally unprepared for some big exam/game' more than a few times...
this is what that supposedly means

I also dream of hurricanes and tornadoes a lot and that I'm driving a car but I'm driving too fast, can't see the road, or it's sooo slippery I can't stay on the road, etc.
driving

I wonder if these are actually true interpretations... if so I have to say that I liked it better when I didn't know what they meant. :uhoh:

The worst dream I ever had was about two months ago. I dreamed that I was laying in my bed, and one of my friends was at the foot of my bed, pointing a gun at me. After pleading with her for my life, she lowered the gun, but then I felt someone else pressing a gun against my neck from my side, out of sight, after which I woke up. The feeling of sheer terror in that last moment still creeps me out a little.
