Isis
I can't be alone in this one, surely. Has anyone else read some/all of the books and wondered what the fuss is all about?
perspicacious
I love Harry Potter, but I can certainly understand why someone wouldn't like them. I didn't think the latest book was that great (good, but not great), and the HP online community is just...terrifying.
jesic
He does whinge an awful lot. Well, ever since he hit puberty he's too big with the tantrums and sulking sessions. I don't dislike the books but I'm a long way from loving them. Kinda meh.
No Stranger to Valyrian Steel
Love the books, ambivilant about the movies, dislike the rampant commercialization, afraid of most adult fans.

Haha, you have to admit, he was a lot less whiny in the new book. And teenage boys are moody. It was annoying, but you have to admit it was understandable. PAH Muad'Dib
i like the first 3 but then think it goes down hill from that point on.
The Marquis de Leech
I like the books - they make for fun light reading - but am not really a true Harry Potter fan. The films on the other hand are pretty much crap.
MoP
In a similar vein, is there anyone else who hasn't read the books or seen the movies and has no urge to do either? Sometimes it seems like I'm in a very small minority...
Lord Baelish
I started to read the first book and hated it, so I can join your anti-HP group!

needle
*puts hand up* I did kind of like the first one when I read it bout ten years ago, (or whenever it came out, i have no clue) but the endless repetitive nature of them bored me senseless since. And I fell asleep in the 2nd Harry Potter film at the cinema, and have never been tempted to watch again.
Sir Tiago
Harry Potter is a good light read, I really don't get the hipe. I actually have all the books in paperback, but thats mainly because I like to own everything I read
Luzifer's right hand
I chose the first HP book when I started reading english because it was a childrens book and easy to read, that was some time before the incredible hype. The books are no masterworks, however they are a decent read and entertaining.
rustydusty
JK Rowling is a hack.
krill54
I liked them when they were 'british schoolboy story with magic' - probably just the first and second book, really. Now's it's just a bog-standard fantasy epic, and not a very good one at that.
Ser Paladin
In a similar vein, is there anyone else who hasn't read the books or seen the movies and has no urge to do either? Sometimes it seems like I'm in a very small minority... I've seen about a half hour of the first movie, and that's it. People have recommended the books to me, but none of them were my A-list references. It's been people who have recommended other bad books to me, and I can't trust their judgment. Rhaco
I'm in. I wasn't able to finish the first book. I've seen two of the movies and they were laughably bad.
High Septon
I've only read the first three, they are fun enough. Of course, the hype is mildly irritating. As is the (widespread?) belief that this is some creative injection in a tired genre.
TheHoundRules
I can not say I hate them b/c I have never read them. I have no plans to read them. I have not seen the movies. I have no plan to see the movies. I bet I would hate them if I read the series.
parappa da rappa
I like them. Fun books with a nice world to escape to and the plot isn't too bad. Snape is an interesting bad guy. As for them being repetitive, I guess I haven't noticed that because I read them as they come out and have yet to reread them all in one go.
