Who's arguing? If I call Dinklage British, after I've heard him speak in his normal accent, you'd point out my mistake, no?

No need to get so touchy.

That's quite appropriate, because I got a distinct "Iñigo Montoya" vibe from the Red Viper during Tyrion's trial by combat.   :D

 You're right, I can't believe I didn't think of it when I read that scene!

I ran out of arguments

Of the suggestions for James Purefoy I like Mance the best. That would be awesome. I also like Naveen Andrews as the Viper.

The perfect actor for the Red Viper is actually Cliff Simon (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0800101/) from the Stargate franchise.

OMG my heart skipped a beat when I read this! I am a huge Stargate fan and if I saw Cliff Simon in a role besides Ba'al I might just faint! I dont know what role though. It doesnt matter!

I have never understood the Purefoy lovefest from Rome or anything else I have seen him in.  He is a bit meh to me.

Unless they totally want to change what I picture the Dornishmen looking like I think it would be a terrible casting.

Yeah, he is all wrong imo. Since Dorne is so different from the rest of Westeros in many ways I hope they cast them very ethnic. I know they were only somewhat darker than the rest of Westeros, but if they were gonna go one way or the other I would rather them too dark than too light. I would take Peter Mensah over James Purefoy.

OK, this is way out of the left field, but how awesome would it be for Daniel Craig to play the Red Viper? Just one or two episodes needed from him anyway. And he looks Mediterranean enough.

So out of the suggestions, I like Oded Fehr as The Red Viper and James Purefoy as Mance Ryader. I'd slide Peter Mensah over to Xhondo. I'd love to hear him boom, "BLACK SAM!" and "FUCK!"

I'll add Alfred Molina as Doran Martell.

I liked Purefoy in Rome (despite his being rather a small guy to play Marc Antony, who was supposed to be a bear of a man), but I don't think the role of Oberyn Martell is the right slot for him. He wouldn't be too bad as Stannis though (although I still want Philip Glenister in that role), and the idea of Purefoy as Mance Rayder sounds pretty good too.
DAmn, Ba'al! I love him :D

He'd be great as well yes.

As much as I loved Naveen Andrews in Lost, I think Oded Fehr would be better as the Viper. I dont know who Xhondo is, maybe cuz I'm not done AFfC yet.

He briefly came out in ACoK as the Summer Island sailor who told Dany that Robert was dead. His reward was he got to see the dragons. He pops up again.

I still want Siddig for Oberyn, Andrews seems a bit too young in my mind and Purefoy doesn't have the right colouring

Siddig looks pretty old now. Anyone else seen him recently on Primeval? Maybe as Doran.

Purefoy has a number of qualities suited to playing Mance Rayder but I'm not sure about the Viper or especially Davos. Davos is supposed to be look like he was common-born and the Viper should look Spanish/Greek/Turkish.

With your previous history with HBO, and a lot of your fans really hoping for it, would you ever consider doing a role on Game of Thrones?

PUREFOY: If it was the right role on Game of Thrones, definitely. Of course! It’s a terrific series. It’s a great series of books. I love HBO. I’m on record saying that HBO is the best television company in the world, and I believe they are. I think they absolutely understand how to make television that is really, really vital and interesting and visceral, and all the things that television really should be. I’m a big fan of HBO.

I think he'd make a terrific Mance Rayder or Euron Crow's Eye.

he would be awesome as mance but it seems like too short of a role for him. him as the crow's eye could be very interesting.

James Purefoy would be a great addition to the GoT cast! He was great in Solomon Kane. A pity that the movie was badly marketed.

Have you seen Solomon Kane?

Purefoy is brilliant in it, although I don't think he's the right fit for the Red Viper.

Seriously, Purefoy is a badass. As stated numerous times, he needs a bigger role that will last a season or more. His role in Camelot was amazing. Just his badass look was enough
