I'm sitting in my living room, bored, at 4 a.m. watching t.v.  Air Force One is on, one of my favorite movies on my "Horrible great" movies list.

The scene at the end where a MIG locks on to Air Force One and an American pilot says "i'm going in" or something and takes the missile instead of letting the president's plane get hit is AWESOME in my opinion.  So awesome.

Any movie moments that you guys think are just awesome, ect?

Actually, doesn't he in fact say something like "I'LL SAVE YOU, MR. PRESIDENT"?

When Rick allows Victor Lazlo to convince the band to drown out "Die Wacht am Rhein" with "La Marseilles".

I tear up every time I see it, and I've seen it dozens of times.

Amen to this.

For me . . .

"Maybe God is Trying to Tell you something'" moment in The Color Purple.

Kevin Spacey losing his limp in The Usual Suspects.

River Tam busting up some Reavers in Serenity.

There's a few. There are plenty more, I'm sure.  :)

"Introduce a little anarchy!" Heath Ledger. The Dark Knight.

"Tell your little boy it's going to be all right Gordon. Lie. Like I lied" Aaron Eckhart. The Dark Knight.

"She needs her father!... And you're lettin' him hang..." Michael Cain. The Prestige.

"If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an idea. Then you become something else entirely..." Liam Neeson. Batman Begins.

"You'll be in a padded cell forever!" Christian Bale (with a very serious throat infection). The Dark Knight.

The entire second (of the three) climax in The Dark Knight. (Specifically Batman vs The Joker on top of the Pruitt building)

I LOVE Chris Nolan!

I agree with some of the others upthread.  Otherwise, some of my faves:

"Shoot straight ya bastards!" - from Breaker Morant

"My name is Maximus Decimus..." - from Gladiator

Bad guy gets a coffee pot in the face - from A History of Violence

The opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan.

The running street fight (over about 10 minutes) in Romper Stomper.

The lighting of the Pelennor beacons in ROTK.

I'm sure others will come to mind sooner or later.

First ones that sprung to mind
(All paraphrased, I`m not going to look up the exact quotes.)

"He`s cut! Balboa cut him!":
"He can be hurt! You see? He`s not a machine, he`s a man!"
"He`s not human...he`s like a piece of iron."
-Rocky IV

"Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
-The Princess Bride

"But what I heard was,
`Chopper, SICK BALLS!!!,
`AHHHHHHHHH!!!`"
-Stand By Me

"KAHNNNNNN!!!"
-Star Trek ll

Also from Trek II, when they order the Reliant`s computer to lower its shields.
"OK Kahn, here it comes..."

Towards the end of Unforgiven.

Clint Eastwood sitting on his horse in the pouring rain and shouting to the town.

"You better bury Ned right.  You better not cut up nor otherwise harm no whores" (long pause). "Or I'll come back and kill every one of you sons 'o bitches"

"My friends. You bow to no one"

"Do you believe in MIRACLES!"

"One shall stand, one shall fall"

"All I ever wanted to be was a gangster"

"my grandmother kicked me in the balls once.  ONCE."

The Fellowship of the Ring had a few:

The horse chase with Arwen, and the music in particular, was very well done. Even though the entire scene was more or less made up by the directors.

The whole portion that took part in Moria. When they enter Dwarrowdelf and the camera pans out over the room, and the flight to the bridge of Khazad Dum, whilst being pursued by orcs and the Balrog. The music in these two parts is also perfect.

Chris Nolan's films have a fair few, but I do take issue with the quote "introduce a little anarchy" because it perpetuates a false picture/idea of anarchy (ie. that it's all about chaos and destruction, which isn't true.)

"You're right. Rachel's death was my fault. Just don't punish the boy. Punish me." "I'm about to." (The Dark Knight)

"What do you mean we don't wake up? If we die in a dream we wake up!" "Not from this" (Inception)

"You created a puzzle you could never solve" (Memento)

I know everyone seems to hate the Star Wars prequels, but the colusseum scene in Attack of the Clones was pretty incredible, I thought.

"You can't! He must stand trial" "He has control of both the senate, and the courts. He's too dangerous left alive!" "It's not the Jedi way. He must live!...I need him!...NOOO!!" (Revenge of the Sith, that whole scene really).

"That's it pal, this mindfuck is over." "Stu, if you hang up, I will kill you."

"Nice try pal, go to hell" distinctive sound of gun cocking. "Now, doesn't that just torque your jaws."

(Both of the above from Phonebooth)

And an honorable mention goes to Blackadder goes fourth:

"I have a plan, sir." "Really Baldrick? A cunning and subtle one?" "Yes sir!" "As cunning as a fox who's just been appointed as professor of cunning at Oxford university?" "Yes sir!" "On the signal, company will advance!" (Whistle blows) "Well I'm afraid it'll have to wait. Whatever it was, I'm sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad, I mean who would have noticed another madman around here?" whistle blows "Good luck everyone."

You mention work from Peter Jackson. Then from Chris Nolan. And now you disgrace their names by mentioning those disgusting fuckfests that he cobbled together for his own greed... Shame on you.

In respect to Memento, I don't know the exact words, but the main character's final monologue is pretty damn good.

Just a couple off the top of my head.

A few good men.  The scene, even if it has been played out, with Cruise and Jack in the courtroom that culminates with "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!".  That whole scene is outstanding.

I'm kinda a sucker for this stuff, but the presidents speech in Independence Day really fired me up.

The big reveal at the end of The Shawshank Redemption.
When Travolta stabs Uma Thurman with the adrenaline needle in Pulp Fiction, or when Jules quotes the bible before he kills someone.
When George McFly punches out Biff in Back to the Future.

Just watched the first Terminator movie last night. Thought the entire police station shoot out was great, starting with the "I'll be back" on. Considering when this movie was made even more impressive.

The shootout in Aliens when they were locked in the Med Bay...again pure genius.

The end to Se7en.

The mech in District 9.

When the prince fights all the royal guards in Hellboy 2. Not sure who that actor or stunt guy is but damn that was impressive.

There are so many I could go on. Even shitty films can have epic scenes. Transformers 2 is a shit film, but the fight in the woods was pretty damn epic.

When Christian Bale starts getting excited about Huey Lewis and the News, or business cards.

Almost of all of Big Lebowski

The Godfather "Where does it say that you can't kill a cop?...It's not personal, Sonny. It's strictly business"

Part II "It was an abortion"
