"How about a magic trick?" the Joker - sets the tone for the whole meeting. I have gotten into many arguments about whether the Joker was insane or not - he's not, and this scene is a reason why I say that.

Gladiator has a lot of good scenes.
  "My name is Maximus"
also - the opening battle and this conversation:
"A people should know when they're conquered."
   "Would you, Quintus? Would I?"

The coin flip scene in No Country for Old Men.
Brilliantly written, gives me chills every time.

The end of SAW 1.
I would have loved to have heard/seen that in the theater for the first time. :stunned:

When Rick allows Victor Lazlo to convince the band to drown out "Die Wacht am Rhein" with "La Marseilles".

I tear up every time I see it, and I've seen it dozens of times.

That's pretty hard to beat, I must say.  I tear up too, and I'm not even French!  But ranking right up there, albeit hitting a different emotional note, is from the same movie where Captain Louis Renault (Claude Rains) is "shocked, SHOCKED' to find gamblling going on in Rick's establishment, right before accepting his gambling winnings.  The scene of his decision at the airport is pretty damn epic too.  Come to think of it, every time he appears he's awesome.

Omar Sharif's entrance scene from Lawrence of Arabia.
The last scene from The Talented Mr. Ripley.
The "Tiny Dancer" scene on the bus from Almost Famous.
Will Smith's jet chase scene with the alien from Independence Day.  I still laugh every time I see it.

Hell, there's way too many to list.  And it seems as though if a movie has one fantastic scene, it's got a LOT more.

Judge Chamberlain Haller: Mr. Gambini?
Vinny Gambini: Yes, sir?
Judge Chamberlain Haller: That is a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out objection.
Vinny Gambini: Thank you, sir.
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Overruled.

Vinny Gambini: It is possible that the two yutes...
Judge Chamberlain Haller: ...Ah, the two what? Uh... uh, what was that word?
Vinny Gambini: Uh... what word?
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Two what?
Vinny Gambini: What?
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Uh... did you say 'yutes'?
Vinny Gambini: Yeah, two yutes.
Judge Chamberlain Haller: What is a yute?
[beat]
Vinny Gambini: Oh, excuse me, your honor...
[exaggerated]
Vinny Gambini: Two YOUTHS.

Ya know, just about all of My Cousin Vinny actually.

That reminds of my favorite moment from Collateral

There's a body in the trunk and the car is all smashed up so they get pulled over by the cops. And as the 2 cops walk up to the car, Tom Cruise shoves a gun in Jamie Foxx's face and is like:

"Get rid of these cops. Fast. You don't have the trunk space for this."

Tom Cruise does have his moments.

Yes, i don't know why but i love that film.

Also it's "You're going to need a bigger boat" not "We're going to need a bigger boat". For some strange reason it just pisses me off when people say the latter

I have so much love for that movie - Herger has the best lines too,

Ibin: "I cannot lift this!"
Herger: "Grow stronger!"

We played Midgard in the Dark Ages of Camelot game (Midgard was Norse themed, and strongly based on 13th Warrior) - we had the Prayer macro'd for keep seiges.
I even saw a girl here in town who had it tattoed on her back - I had to stop and compliment her on it.

I've never seen Fred Gwynne play a finer role.  He was GREAT in that film.

"I want to go home now" - Dellamorte Dellamore (aka Cemetery Man)

"In the beginning, there was darkness" - Dark City (that whole boat ride scene through the canal is awesome, as is the entire movie)

This list is nowhere complete without this gem from Liam Neeson from Taken....

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."

I would go with the scene in Saving Private Ryan when Tom Hanks character is stunned by the artillery round of on the beach and he is dazed and looking around and seeing the carnage of the moment.

I knew too many vets of Normandy and Sicily for that to not be a gut wrenching scene.

The seppoku scene from Last Samurai.
Lot of people hate on the movie, but I thought it was pretty good. This scene in particular was well shot - though I thought the girl sitting next to me was going to start screaming or throw up, :uhoh:

This is the most impossible topic ever.  This post could easily be gigantic, but just to pick a few -

Hannibal Lecter's escape in Silence of the Lambs.  He wore another dude's face.

Alex and his droogs whomping on Billy Boy at the derelict theatre in A Clockwork Orange.  I love how, in concert with the music, it just keeps getting more and more out of hand until there's people flying around like thrown muppets.

The torture scene from Casino Royale.  Oww.  Daniel Craig is the most badass Bond ever.  "Everyone's going to know that you died scratching my balls!"

Can't forget some of the great Tarantino moments:

"Say auf wiedersehen to your Nazi balls!"

O-Ren's little speech about her heritage.

Mr. Pink

"It's the one that says, 'badmotherfucker.'"

Anytime the character Dr. Strangelove says anything.

All of Audrey Hepburn's performance in Roman Holiday.

Tom Cruise's role in Tropic Thunder.  "...and literally FUCK YOUR OWN FACE!!!"

Singin in the Rain.

Gah!  Must.  Stop!

As I am a star trek fan, the scene in First Contact where the Enterprise-E comes out of warp and engages in battle with the Borg cube is still one of my all time favorite scenes. And in the lead up to that where Picard says "Set a course for Earth, maximum warp!" And Data says "to hell with our orders!"

There was definitely some good spectacle there, but I just couldn't get over how this movie saw the death of the Picard that I loved, the thoughtful man of words, the accomplished litigator, the guy who loved sonnets and archaeology, and replaced him with Captain Kirk.  We already have one, thanks.

You'll either love this or hate this.
