The Isle of Faces

Recommended Posts

Name: Maker

Sigil: A bottle, sealed with red wax on white.

Motto: "Our Maker is our Mark."

Unofficial Motto: "The burn means it's to young."

Weapon: Valryian Steel Bottle Corker known as the "The Stopper of Age"

-Back story-

House Maker began a distilling business north by northwest of "Mark" hill by 2 leagues approximately 427.78 years ago which, at the time, and up to current date, is unseen in Westeros. They were able to capture the minds and stomach lining of the ruling class of Westeros within 50 years. Since Distilled Drink is a rarity and reserved to the Citadel, House Mark prospered and has become a stable and trusted nightcap for Westeros in the ensuing 427.79 years.

Name: House Araneida

Sigil: A Funnel Web Spider hanging from a blood red webbing

against a forest green background.

Words: "In the dark of the Realm, for the Realm"

Location: Any forest of Westeros (Before Aegon). But suspected origins believed somewhere in The Haunted Forest.

House Weapons: An Onyx shortsword named Shadowbrand, persuasion over wildlings and theives, the Funnel Web Spider.

Religion: The Old Gods

House Araneida, in the days before Aegon the Conqueror was a faction like no other. A house which spread to every corner of woods in The Great Realm. House Araneida worked as a group of assassins for hire, with no house sworn to. Only jobs for pay. But with politics in the realm becoming more of a burden, they found themselves out of assignment. The funnel web spider plays a great role as a weapon, it is used simply by being planted on victims. Araneida was never said to have allies in all the history of Westeros and with good reason. They are a small faction in each area they inhabit. No more than four strong. But their ranks grow with their keen abilities in persuasion over any they choose. Some say even telepathic. Not much more is known of the history and exploits of this house as of yet.

Name: House Tywin

Sigil: A gilded chamber pot on brown

Motto: "A different Bowl of Brown."

Unofficial Motto: *A long drawn out grunting noise*

Location: 3 miles north of the seat of House Baelish.

Weapon: Valyrian Steel Square Point Shovel named "The Scooper"

-Back story-

House Tywin was actually formed some 30 years ago as a tax dodge by House Baelish. The "Leader" of House Tywin is a man by the name of Ser Don Herbert. Knighted as a pleasantry to quiet down the INS in Kings Landing, Ser Herbert hails from the far lands of Asshai. Known as a failed "Wizard" he was not able to master the arts of turning lead into gold. However Lord Baelish known as "Tinythumb" to his friends was able to make use of him however. This had the result of diminished sheep pellets on Baelish lands. Ser Herbert labors night and day turning the "assets" of House Baelish into usable gold. The exact volume of this fortune is unknown at present but theorized to be equal to the national debt of Westeros.

Name: House Stryell (prounounced streel, not stry-ell)

Sigil: A grey boulder broken in 2 pieces on a field of green.

Motto: Born of the earth

Unofficial Motto: Lannisters, we always pay their debts.

Location: Northwest of Red Lake

Castle Name: The Torn Keep (Originally named Stryellhold)

Castle Details: Castle is on top of the southernmost hill of a trio of hills, surrounded by a small wall on the north and west sides. South and east sides are impassable cliffs, resulting from extensive mining. There are passages down through the cliffs from the keep to an area protected by higher walls to the east, west and south, and by the cliffs to the north. The area below the cliffs has three towers, a smaller stone keep (built after the castle on the hill, as protection for the entrance to the mines), some of the castle facilities, and some of the town. The rest of the town spreads outside those walls.

(Sorry if that's difficult to picture, suddenly I really started to develop my mental image of it, not sure if I translated it well to words)

Religion: Many still follow the old gods, but that isn't something that's advertised.

Sworn to: Its complicated.

House Weapon(s): Valyrian Pickaxe - It looks something along these lines: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31X1GANJ8WL._SL500_AA300_.jpg)

Current whereabouts are unknown, it was hidden somewhere in one of the mines at the end of Robert's Rebellion to keep it from the Lannisters who lack a Valyrian weapon of their own.

History: Stryellhold was founded by Tris Stryell. Tris saved the life of his lord during an early battle with the Children of the Forest, propelling him into the good graces of his lord. He proved himself as a loyal soldier and someone who could be counted on. Given the area around the trio of hills northwest of Red Lake as a reward. When the Andals invaded, Stryellhold withstood a fair number of attacks, but eventually opened the gates to their attackers after an agreement was made between the groups. The agreement gave Lonn Styrell, the maiden daughter and only remaining heir to the ill lord of Stryellhold, to the leader of the Andal siege to take as wife. The Andal leader took the name Stryell when he took Lonn as his wife, in order to win the smallfolk to him. In this way the Stryell line was preserved.

Before Robert's Rebellion, Stryellhold owed its allegiance to House Tyrell. After the war, the mines were given over to House Lannister as part of House Tyrell's punishment for staying loyal to the Targaryens. Since the castle sits on one of the hills containing the mines, it technically belongs to the Lannisters, but since the agreement didn't say anything about this area but the mines, the town and the part of the castle below the cliffs still belongs to the Tyrells. Thus the name The Torn Keep.

Name: House Stinky

Founder: Stewart Stinky

Sigil: A cog brown on white, as described in ADWD, quote below.

Location: Saltcliff, Iron Islands

Motto: Drown to rise again, but smell me to stay dead.

Backstory: An old First Men clan from the Neck with a distinctive familial body odor. Their very existence offended the pious Andals who promptly exiled them to Saltcliff. Adopted the faith of the Drowned God and quickly became the most accomplished fisherfolk in the Iron Islands: once they learned to swim, they realized they could just pick off poisoned fish from the ocean surface. Suspected relations to the original Reek.

Very mild

"At her forecastle stood a grotesque figurehead, some worm-eaten wooden eminence with a constipated look and a scroll tucked up under one arm."

Name: House Clegane

Sigil: Dog's head and direwolf's head, black, in profile, facing each other, in front of a broken grey wall on a field of ice white

Motto: Walls Cannot Stop Us

Unofficial Motto: <low, throaty growl>

Location: Winterfell

House Sword: Sandor's

History: This house came into being following the alliance (*wink*) of Sansa Stark and Sandor Clegane. After the death of his brother, Sandor Clegane sold his former home and lands to a lesser lord and used the proceeds to rebuild Winterfell, where he could enjoy the warming hot springs and thus reduce the use of fire within the castle. A friend to the Night's Watch, House Clegane often hosts those heading to the Wall. This house avoids joining in the squabbles of other houses but kills Greyjoys on sight.

House Motto: Till the last drop.

Unofficial motto: Ever vigilant

Castle: Frozen reach located on the gift.

Ancestral weapons: A pair of enchanted obsidian daggers called grief and sorrow.

When the long night came, All the men with their smallfolk struggled for food supplies, leaving their women and children in their homes to go hunting. Unlucky for them that was the time when the others struck. So when the men came back from hunting, they were attacked by the wights of their beloved family. The men were forced to destroy them, and were greatly diminished in the attempt. So, salvation was granted them, when during their flight, they met the armies of Azor Ahai to whom they joined for the war for the dawn. From that time on, they vowed to protect the realm from the others. The house might be extinct, but their legacy remained for 8000 years.

Please point out the inconsistencies

Geeky and Nerdish, just the way I like it. :)

House name: Frostworth

Sigil: Black sword and sheath crossed behind a running gray direwolf on a blue field .

House Motto: Honor and loyalty, in life and death.

Location: Small town in between Winterfell and Moat Cailian near the Kingsroad

Ancestral weapon: Avenger, A steel sword with a weirwood sheath, a gift from a Lord Stark

Fealty: House Stark

History: The house is a young house compared to others, being created after the Dragons conquered Westeros. It's founder was a sellsword from Myr named Cregan, who was left for dead at White Harbor. Some locals managed to save his life, and he started to assimilate into the Northern lifestyle. One day, news came that some outlaws were hiding in the Neck. The Lord takes his men from the castle to deal with them, while a band of Wildlings managed to sneak by the Wall. This group of Wildlings, were led by a man reported to be of Giant's blood, made their way south and hid in the Wolfswood. The Wildlings took women from Winterfell back to the forest, with the leader taking many women and possibly fathering a child or two. One of the women managed to escape, and made it back to alert the guards. With so many men away, the Lord's only son and child decided to hastily take all able bodied men to kill the Wildlings. The lord, expecting 5 or 6 wildlings, was ambushed by more than a dozen of them. The lord was separated from his men, but before he was killed by the Wildling leader, the sellsword managed to save the lord and kill the leader, along with a handful of others. When Lord Stark heard this, he gave the sellsword land, a minor lordship, and had a sword made for saving his only child. The sellsword than married the daughter of a Manderly, and in time became good friends with his liege lord and especially the son, with the young Stark saying he would name his first son Cregan, in honor of the man who saved his life. Lord Frostworth supported King Robb, sending his eldest and strongest son in his place, carrying their family sword. He rules his lands, with help from his daughter and two sons, ever loyal to the Starks.

Name: House Leiomeril

Sigil: A crossroad surrounded by trees, illuminated by the moon.

Motto: We do not regret!

Unofficial Motto: Silent as the trees of Leiomeril.

Location: Last Hearth

House Heirloom: A weirdwood greatbow inscribed in old tongue runes.

Sworn to: House Umber

Backstory:

The House was born when a couple of wildlings saved a lord from a hunt gone wrong, earning his grudging gratitude. He invited them to his castle, feasted them and rised them from mere wildlings to lesser lords. The wildlings were bewildered at the generosity, having only followed in order to see what they could rob, but decided they preferred this gift instead, and kept silent, until the wilding man got drunk enough to sadly confess the whole scheme.

The lord, in his ire, gave the wildlings that night to say their farewells to each other and conceive. If a son or daughter was born, he would receive what had been promised. If not, the woman would follow his husband in death.

As the House can attest, a son was born, and as him, all his descendant are raised half-kneelers, half-wildings.
