I know there was a thread about this but it is so buried I can't seem to find it.  Maybe I'm in the wrong forum but I swear Ran's book was called this.    Is there any eta on the release date of your compendium now that we know when Dance is coming?

GRRM said its coming by year's end, if I'm not wrong.

He said the manuscript was due to the publishers by year's end.  Assuming that deadline is met, the book would probably come out in mid to late 2012.

I couldn't find it on Amazon.com. Thought it was canceled or something.

We're looking for a final draft at the end of the year, and apparently George has been told that means a publication next year. Exciting. Although honestly it would not surprise me if they decide to wait until 2013. We'll see.

I'm assuming that means 'this' Christmas, if Bantam are already listing it.

I thought the book was done so why does it take one year for it to be published ?

I believe the book is done text-wise (or almost so) but there's more work to be done with artists and assembling the final product. A book like this, which is non-standard in size with lots of colour illustrations, also requires a lot more lead-time in assembling and printing than a standard novel.
