Hi, I'm new to the forum and would like to share my suggestion for Mace Tyrell's role (albeit this may be more looking towards season 3). I reckon Richard Griffiths would make a terrific Mace Tyrell, he seems to me to be around the same age, and also has that same kind of bumbling quality Tyrell has, I personally think he'd be terrific. What does everyone else think?

Welcome to the forum! I could see him playing Mace, but I'd be more convinced if I could see how they'd style his hair and clothing. Also, be sure to link actors to their IMDB page (or other good source) for those who do not know him. That way it is a 1-click view. Like this: Richard Griffiths.

Thanks for the advice, I'll bare that in mind for future. I like a lot of the casting suggestions people are putting forward, especially for the inclusion of Ian McShane in some form. I'm fairly new to the books having watched the series first (about a quarter into Feast for Crows now), but out of every character I've encountered, somehow Griffiths has really formed in my mind for Mace

I agree. I can see it simply cause Mace Tyrell has those bursts of outrage like Vernon Dursley did on Harry Potter.

If that is the character trait that we are using to define Mace, my personal pick would be Geoffrey Hughes.

IMDB

Picture

Looks more capable of leading an army into battle than Richard Griffiths.

As a television veteran, he would be easily obtainable.

YOU KNOW HE MAKES SENSE!

I liked the suggestion of Colm Meaney.

Meaney would be good. I've only seen him in Get Him to the Greek, but that convinced me he could play the fat, hot-headed Mace Tyrell.

Griffiths is Manderly! It is known!

I agree with Jack Black Bulwer. I don't know Geofrey Hughes but he looks the part. I don't think Mace is quite as old as Richard Griffiths. He's only like in his fifties, surely Griffiths is seventy?

When reading the books, I pictured Mace as the guy who played  colonel Dempsey in Ultimate force
