The last thread is at 398 posts.  So, if my observations about how this forum works over the past few years are correct, it would mean that if I bumped it, it'd only get one more response in before it was locked, so let's start anew!

This better be good.  00 had a nice story, but poorly executed, I think. I wasn't a fan of its SEED-inspired art either.  SEED and its influence on the series is a cancer that must be excised.

Though:

Art style seems... cartoony.

Also, anyone watching Sacred Seven? Is it good?

What else is airing atm that's good shit?

Are there any good new anime out that are low on fanservice and don't have a cast made up of teenage girls?

None that I know of. The rest of the year doesn't look too bright on that front, either - even the non-silly ones have teenage-looking protagonists.

FMA: Brotherhood is almost done, and I'm sad. The show has been amazing so far. With it finishing, I'll be stuck with only Bleach in the Hueco Mundo Arc to watch on Adult_Swim.

I found and bought the DVDs for Moribito, finally (I've been planning to do that for years, but never got around to it).

Kamisama Dolls main characters are in college, and the story is decent thus far.

EDIT: Also Tiger & Bunny, although that one has some fanservice. (nothing extreme though)

I'm not really a big fan of slice of life stuff, but I have been mulling over whether or not Tiger and Bunny is worth my time. First time I heard the name I thought it was Yaoi, and that's just not my cup of tea. Everything I've heard since has been mixed. Some say its great, others say its trash, so not sure if I'm willing to make the commitment.

It's not slice of life. It's superhero. (Yes, western superhero, very clearly so) it's not fantastic or anything but it's pretty fun. And they're only about as gay as your average buddy-cop odd-couple.

IE: Very.

Sorry, rereading I can see where the confusion comes from. I wasn't referring to Tiger and Bunny when I said I don't like slice of life, but your other suggestion.

Kamisama Dolls isn't really slice-of-life either. It's... kind of action-y? With some low-key horror-elements? Not really sure how to describe it.

Whenever I discover an Anime I like I find it amazing that I've missed it.  The only anime I've ever really watched Samuri 7, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing and both Full Metal Alchemists I watched Black Butler in a day (at least the first serise) that last episode scared the shit out of me.

I understand there was a relaunch last year.  Kind of cheapens the whole thing.  Someone at my local bookstore recommended Death Note its good so far.  Any other recommendations?

Planetes is probably worth a try.

Also, which version of Hellsing did you watch? Because Hellsing Ultimate if that wasn't the one.

There's a this college aged guy who has a crush on this girl. It turns out they both come from the same village (although the girl's father left years go) and in that village there are people known as Seki who can control... Big huge weirdly shaped robots made out of wood? Our main character used to be one but left the villae after a tragic event. (whcih I won't spoil) involving his friend/adopted brother murdering a bunch of people.

Only now that guy is loose and is bringing his own "doll" to Tokyo. The main character doesen't have his doll anymore, but his little sister does, and there's also another group of people from the village showing up, as well as a B-plot about a couple of people investigating.

It has a very "village with dark secret" kind of vibe.

Planetes (garbagemen in Space! So much better than it sounds!) RahXephon (it's kind of like Eva, only nothing like Eva, and has one of the best constructed plots I'v seen (not neccessarily best plot though) the director described it as a "nested box" structure, where you'd see say... A conversation, and it would look as part of one context, and only later with new info would i seamlessly fit into another, it's all done very well) Infinite Ryvius (Lord of the Flies mixed with Lost In Space. Bunch of kids traped on a huge starship and their political machinations) Princess Tutu (a ballet-dancing duck fights a raven for the heart of a prince... Then half the characters decide they don't like the story and teams up against the author, and it's fantastic. Awesome AMV here) Revolutionary Girl Utena (... It's just weird)

How new should they be? Did you already watch most of the anime of last year? If you like sports anime, you could always try out Giant Killing. It's a charming, though for some people somewhat unevenly paced show about a football/soccer team in Tokyo. The majority of the characters are adults.

The funny thing is that the last two seasons have been pretty good. Star Driver was fantastic, Tiger & Bunny is good, as is Hanasaku Iroha and Mawaru Penguindrum.

It's just that all of these fail one of the criteria :P (usually both)

I'm a huge Gundam who loved both 00 and Seed. Though nothing every really comes close to the epic movie that was Char's Counterattack. Gundam is defiantly my favorite collection of anime series, but there are some very bad ones mixed in with all the excellent series and movies. I don't really have high hopes for Gundam Age since it looks like it's going to be aimed at younger kids and it will include aliens. Gundam should not involve aliens! That was one reason that the 00 movie sucked. I mean sure there were some nice battles and all but that was basically it, the only positive moments of the movie were Gundam eye-candy. How much of the UC Gundam series have you watched? Have you watched Gundam Unicorn at all?

Kaiji season 2 (though season 1 was way better) is about to finish airing and Steins;Gate is airing right now as well.

If you drop the cast made up of teenage girls qualification I would highly recommend Steins;Gate. The series doesn't do much in the way of action but it doesn't really need to because the story is so damn good. I will warn you though a large portion of the cast is made up of teenage girls and the story is very slow. However if you give it a chance it does get extremely good, you just have to be patient and sit through the beginning episodes while that happens. It's an anime about Time Travel. I'd classify it as Psychological/Comedy.

I don't care what anyone says Outlaw Star is better then Cowboy Bebop. Everyone gives Cowboy Bebop way to much credit. Yes it is a great series but best anime ever? Most certainly not. Either way all the anime you've listened, with the exception of Black Butler which I have not seen and cannot comment on, are great. ^_^

Death Note is actually a very good series. While there are way to many emo kids that hype it up to be better then it is it doesn't change the fact that it's very enjoyable and definitely worth your time to watch. The author and the artist of the  of the manga both do great work. And when the original source material is good it usually translates to a great anime. They are currently working together on another series Bakuman. The manga is ongoing and the first season of the anime it out. It's a unique series, because it's about two friends one an artist and the other a writer who wish to make manga together. It starts off when they are in junior high and has since progressed to where they are of college age. It's not the kind of series that's for everyone but it's pretty good.

Based on your previous likes (which seem very similar to my own preferences), Baccano! 1930s gangsters, immortals, crazy people, anachronistic order, and an awesome dub. Also Black Lagoon. You'd probably like Neon Genesis Evangelion, but even if you don't it's generally considered required viewing. Galactus is right, Princess Tutu is much better than it has any right to be, give it a shot. Code Geass is stupid, but enjoyable.

And there are two versions of Hellsing. One is bad, the other is good. The good one is Hellsing Ultimate, and it consists of hour-long OVA's, not 30 minute episodes.

Also, Miyazaki movies, especially Princess Mononoke. And that's all I can think of right now, enjoy.

Edit: Oh fuck, definitely watch Paprika by Satashi Kon.
