I can't modify or view my own profile

Recommended Posts

My account has been approved/activated by myself and an administrator but I get the following message when I try to view my profile:

[#10245] You are not permitted to view member profiles.

And this one when I try to modify it on my settings:

[#1026] You are not permitted to modify all or some of your profile information.

Help please.

Only posts that increment post-count move you from the 'can't modify profile' group to the 'can modify profile' group. Help and Forum Games do not increment, however. This is a measure to prevent spammers from signing up for accounts and using profiles to put up spam links.

So, browse the forum, contribute a post or three in topics that interest you outside of Help and Forum Games (I forget how many posts are actually needed), and you should then be able to modify your profile as you like.

I am having the same problem. I tried to start a new thread about 2 hours ago and cannot find it anywhere. It seemed to work but then again I am new to this whole forum thing. Been on this site forever just never joined or contributed now I do and cant seem to do anything! LOL...

Maybe my reply to this will also get lost?

Some forums require moderator approval on topics. Until the topics are approved, your post count will not be incremented.

As we're upgrading stuff today and people are getting used to the new features, there may be a delay on approval. Instead of starting topics, trying posting in already existing topics.

That said, presently profiles are going to be up-and-down in availability, as people are rushing to them to try and update their profile images and so on.

Okay...except that in the last few weeks I have posted a half dozen or so replies to various substantive forums, and I'm still unable to view my profile (I get the same message as Lady-Avalon).

Now, I first signed up 5 years ago, was fairly active for a couple years then dropped out of sight for a few years, so maybe that's a factor. But it's a little aggravating.

I always get this and don´t understand why.

An Error Occurred

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

[#10245] You are not permitted to view member profiles.

I can´t view my profile and so on...

Xray - is it typical for the board to be in that mode? Will it be changed back at some point?

Would it be possible to give access to whatever user setting allows the user to adjust viewing preferences without a minimum post count? I really just want to lurk and read peoples' theories and interpretations, but I'd like to be able to display more than the minimum number of posts per page in a thread. I'm not sure I have much to contribute - people here seem to be much further along in their interpretations and ideas than me.

There should be a small arrow pointing down next to your name in the toolbar at the top of the screen. Click that and go to "My Settings". You can change your board viewing settings, time zone, etc. there.

You can also change your profile and avatar using the same "My Settings" option; in fact, it will be the thing that pops up first. You can't view your profile, but you may want to change your user picture nonetheless.

I would like to get a profile picture like I had before, but I can't as I get a message that says

[#10245] You are not permitted to view member profiles.

and even when i could it still wouldn't allow me to load a picture.

So I think the problem will remain even after the performance moad is over.

The title cannot be changed until you reach Council Member status, at 700 posts.

From the board FAQ:

Q. How can I get a Custom Title?

A. Custom titles are currently being granted only to those people who have reached the posting level of Council Member. When you've reached that level, edit your profile and you will have the option of setting a title. You may only make three title changes per month.

Q. Just what are these posting levels?

A. As you post, the forum keeps a tally of your total. When you reach a certain number, your title will automatically change. Here is a listing of the levels:

Unregistered -- Wildling

Newly registered -- Commoner

25 posts -- Freerider

75 posts -- Sellsword

150 posts -- Squire

250 posts -- Hedge Knight

375 posts -- Landed Knight

525 posts -- Noble

700 posts -- Council Member

Once you reach Council Member, you will be able to change your title to something of your choosing via My Controls.

No, it won't.

The option to upload a picture has always been disabled. You can only use the URL of a picture you have uploaded elsewhere (eg Photobucket or another free hosting site) or use Gravatar.

If anyone is still confused about how to get an avatar, please read this step by step guide.
