Ok my brethren, let's keep this going.  Remember the rules:

1) DO NOT FEED THE YEARD

2) Do not troll other boards

3) Try not to flame the yeardites who might show up

4) Remember that when you gaze into the Yeard the Yeard gazes back into you!

Have fun and play nice.

ETA:  Are you serious?  This stupid board won't let me capitalize the I in LI in the title!  Now it looks like we're talking about Jet Li's cousin or something!  Stupid board!

Goodness...if that's the case, is there anything left to say? ;)

This is my standard cover-my-ass disclaimer.  Gaze into the Yeard all you want, but if the Yeard gazes back into you at least it won't be my fault.

I can begrudingly say thanks Tairy for acknowledging his unofficial anti-fan club and sending me copies of his books despite knowing what we would do to them.   Kinda cool of the guy to be a good sport about it.

His books are still shite though.

I think were he actually gaze at me all Yeard-like I'd be paralyzed by laughter...

...which is no doubt his evil plan! ;)

I would feel my thing rise up in me. Then i would say the words "Raptor Gaze" 54 times in an hour as revenge for the Faith of the Fallen audiobook

Then, your thing having risen, you'd no doubt rape a few people...who of course TOTALLY DESERVE IT FOR BEING ANTI-LIFE! ;)

Not a very good theory. Terrible, in fact.

I can´t fall asleep without an audiobook in my ear. My current cure for insomnia is ofcourse The Omen Machine...

I make a playlist of 5-7 chapters then i usually fall asleep after 2-3 chapters.
You can´t even imagine what kind of dreams i´ve been having. They´re even more disturbing than the dreams you get after eating "food" from McDonalds.

Sometimes I wonder if the Tairy threads are just the output of a particularly eager chatbot.

Friend visiting from OOT, I ask what book she's reading. Wizard's First Rule.

I don't want to be negative and it turns out that she's laboring under the same misconception that I was when I read the first book and enjoyed it - that it's supposed to be funny and campy and over the top. So I don't say anything about how the Yeard would condemn her for finding his book campy and not full of important human themes. I just ask her, if she keeps reading, to tell me what she thinks of the next books, and warn her that they get progressively objectivist preachy. I feel I have been successfully non-confrontational, but I'm sure my boyfriend will tell me how rude I was later. I'm not extremely good at hiding my opinions.

(Sorry if this is multiple posts, can't seem to get the board to work today)

Hmm. Apparently, when someone who isn't familiar with the fantasy genre is exposed to excerpts from Terry Goodkind (specifically, the classic chicken-that-is-not-a-chicken), the automatic assumption is that the writer is a comedian. When told that no, this is actually "for legit srs reals," said person goes through the five stages of grief (Denial-Anger-Bargaining-Depression-Acceptance).

Also, do you have to have read the books to count as a Lemming of Discord?

You don't have to read the books to be crazy, but it helps.

Some of it has got to be comedy.  I can't belive he could write the chicken thing completely deadpan.  Surely the proof readers/editors/other responsible adult, must have told him it was hilarious
