http://tvovermind.za...-season-2/91327

I'm kind of disappointed by this, as I thought the actor that played him in season 1 fit the part pretty well, where this guy doesn't seem strong or big enough.  He is tall enough, for sure, but I think he is too skinny and lanky.

Any particular reason why?
Maybe Conan Stevens is just a poor actor.

I actually hope it's some kind of rumor. I have no knowledge of Ian Whyte's acting talent, but I think he's too skinny. Conan Stevens is/was perfect for the role. If Ian Whyte does replace him, I hope he buffs up a little bit.

I think Conan Stevens is busy with the Hobbit movie.

If it's true to begin with, then because Conan is way too busy with his role in The Hobbit and I think there was also something with Spartacus. As long as they show Gregor only in armor and he rarely/never speaks it probably won't be noticed. I only wonder if Conan then returns for a further season (temporary solution) or if the recast would be permanent.

ian whyte??? she is wayyyy  to skinny and dainty. i fell in love with big-he main conan stevens and now this happens! i caught his web site and love the way he writes. he got parts in spartacus and the hobbit after auditioning, there is not reason to assume he is a poor actor right off the bat. major disappointment for me.

Wow. That sucks. He's perfect as Gregor. Just the right build and size. The new guy looks tall enough, but way too skinny to be considered a "Mountain That Rides". From my understanding of how far I am into ACoK, Gregor doesn't have that big of a role. Can Conan not find the time to film his scarce scenes? Conan doesn't have that big of a role in The Hobbit (someone said he was a goblin that dies). I don't know, never read any of that stuff. Just hope it is only a rumor. The guy was perfect in every way. I hope they stop with this recasting business....

Stevens is credited as Azog for THE HOBBIT (which I intend to avoid). He's a better fit for Clegane than Azog, for sure.

Azog the Goblin? He was killed by Bilbo's ancestor. Guess they are changing names. Either way, a goblin is a lame fucking villain next to Gregor Clegane.

If it's not a hoax, my bet is that he was offered more money. This guy did so much self-promotion off of Game of Thrones anyway. Don't blame him for whoring himself out, but it's a loss.

Its a pity.  I thought he was absolutely adorable in how hard he went after Gregor's role, that he was physically perfect for it, and I <3 him.  I'll be watching him in The Hobbit though.

WHAT? Also, Ian Whyte is the WhiteWalker  in the first episode (that's what it says on IMDB).
That is a shame, because Stevens is just perfect, he has that mean look about him. I feel like he doesn't look intimidating enough. Maybe they will make him bulk up haha ?

Actually, Golfimbul was killed by a hobbit. Azog was killed by a dwarf. The Hobbit movies are going to have lots of extras. Stretching a nice little children's story into an epic. The Azog thing doesn't really have a whole lot to do with the events depicted in THE HOBBIT.

Anyway, before the thread threatens to drift here, I'll stop right there.

Not good, if true. Does not look good whan a show replaces actors, makes it look amarican daytime cheap.

This is why the movie will be a fail.

This heartbreaking man, Conan was a monster exactly how Gregor should look even in the face. Dude just looked angry, this new guy looks soft, ya he seems tall enough big whoop. I hope this aint true.

Yes. It's surprising to me that he wouldn't continue as Gregor. He seemed to want the role so badly.

Gregor doesn't have a lot of dialogue in the book, all they really need is someone to look tall and menacing in armor.  It is possible that Stevens wasn't available for early scenes and the new guy is basically a stand in until he becomes available again.  If Gregor is wearing a helmet with a faceplate, who would know the difference?

Oh no..I also thought Conan was a perfect fit..having said that.
When you google image Ian Whyte. you get pictures of predator. ergo..there is a coolness factor attached to him.

I feel bad for Conan, given how much he wanted this role and how well he suited the part. I hope this was just one of those tough scheduling issue things where he had to make the choice to back out, rather than the show "replacing him".

That said, I'm not worried that Ian Whyte won't fill the role just fine. Gregor is pretty much always in full heavy armor chopping people down, and you can't see his face most of the time, never mind his actual build (other than height). How "skinny" he is under the padding and armor will be irrelevant to how he'll look, and he actually won't be appearing very much anyhow.
