It is getting stranger and stranger - but I love it. I cannot get enough of Fringe. I doubt they'll go down the 'magic re-set button' path as that will nullify all the episodes we have seen so far from season 4.
I seriously wonder how they're going to merge the past 3 seasons with this season so far (if they even do). I admit, I'd be bummed if we didn't revert to the original universe. Some of the new character interaction is awesome (Olivia/Walter, Olivia/Astrid), and I was never a huge fan of Peter, but there are dynamics to this orange universe that I don't like.

I think a magic memory reset is coming. Olivia no longer has access to her cortexiphan powers. She's going to need to them, so Walter/Peter will find a way for her memories of Peter to be restored along with everything that happened as we saw it. This will allow more exposition as to how the orange universes are different than the blue and red ones.

Is it for sure Olivia doesn't have her powers? I thought she just had to be tight lipped to subject 9 because her "crossing over" power would reveal classified information. It'd be really interesting if she actually hadn't manifested any of the cortexiphan side-effects.

I thought Walter said to Olivia that NONE of the cortexiphan kids had retained their powers.

Hmm. Missed that. It kind of makes sense though. IIRC, Peter helped Olivia with her concentration, like when she had to turn the lights on/off with her mind. Without Peter, maybe she was never able to do it.

I wonder how they/she was crossing universes then? Maybe that's why the bridge was built? This universe is getting more and more interesting...

I watched it on Friday, I didn't notice anything with the sound.

I enjoyed the episode.  I like how Walternate in the Amber universe isn't necessarily the bad character.  I'm not sure about Olivia having to die...I feel like we've just been through that all before with Lost.  But we will see how it plays out.  Although maybe we won't...I keep hearing chances are good that Fringe will be cancelled after this season.  I hope the writers are slightly preparing for this in case it happens and we aren't completely left hanging.

this was the first episode that I've seen live as i've caught up over the fall. thought it was really good in terms of pushing the present scenario towards some resolution.

from what i've heard, it will almost certainly be done after thise season

It'll be a tragedy if it's done after this season.  This year has been so strong.  Nice little twist with the human shapeshifters being something else entirely, not something of Walternate's creating...To me, the thing wasn't that the Observer was saying Olivia had to die, it was that he was shot.  Will they go back and show what that was about?

Fringe has always been really quiet sound-wise. I have to turn up my volume almost all the way when I'm watching live or the DVDs, where with most other shows my volume is under half-way.

RE: cancellation. The ratings have been super low this season, so I'd say it's pretty much a goner, which is a real shame. FOX has been pretty good to Fringe (unlike many of it's other Sci-Fi shows, such as Firefly, Dollhouse, and T:SCC), so maybe they'll give the writers a shortened 5th season to wrap things up. A season of 12 or 13 episodes would work nicely and would give Fringe 100 episodes.

I don't think they've been very good to Fringe.  Oh sure they let it continue this season despite low ratings last year.  But I think they have to take a good chunk of blame for the low ratings by continuing to switch Fringe's time slot around and giving it crummy time slots and dates at that.  If my memory serves me correctly, Fringe was doing pretty well in the ratings when it was on Tuesday nights and I think that was a perfect night for it as there wasn't much else on that night to take away from it.  Then Fox wanted to expand American Idol so they switched Fringe to Thursday nights which was a horrible decision because there is too many other competing shows on that night so the ratings began to drop.  And then when finally switched to Friday night...that was the kiss of death from Fox.

It's likely that Fringe's ratings would have continued to fall, though definitely not to the extent they did with the switches in timeslots. The episodic nature of the first season and, to a lesser extent, the second season, attracted larger numbers of viewers. Switching back and forth between universes at the beginning of last season probably put off a lot of viewers, and I know many fans have hated this new amber universe (and the episodes without Joshua Jackson in them).

I think that most other network channels would have dropped Fringe after the third season, or even part way through. I thought it was a miracle that we got a full order for a fourth season, so I'm pretty grateful to Fox. I just hope that if they do cancel, they give the writers enough time to somewhat wrap things up.

I agree, I hope the writers get enough notice and time to wrap things up...whenever the end might be.

Actually I could use some help from you all...the Hugo nominations are going on now.  I'd like to nominate a couple of episodes of Fringe to try and break up the endless episodes of Dr. Who that predominate the tv show category.  Any episodes really stand out for you?  These would be any episode that aired in 2011 - so the last half of Season 3 (airing spring 2011) and the first half of Season 4 (airing fall 2011).  I'm planning on going back and rewatching a bunch of episodes but I thought I'd see if any favorites stood out for any of you.

The episode 6B - about the woman who'd lost her husband and was seeing his counterpart on the other side.

Alone in the World, from season 4.

Oohh, good idea! Here are some of my favorites from 2011:

3x14 "6B"
4x02 "One Night in October"
4x07 "Wallflower"
4x08 "Back to Where You've Never Been"

Really wish that "Marionette" had been a 2011 episode.

This fan happens to think that this season has been brilliant...

Just about anything from this season would work, but One Night in October is great...also, The Day We Died as the season 3 finale...

Well if they actually showed the fucking series in decent size blocks instead of constant breaks.

Also reset buttons usually piss people off, I don't know why they still try.

I don't think it in any way matches up with season 3, which I thought was outstanding from start to finish. But I don't think it's neccessarily worse than the first two. Have to see the whole season to make a fair judgment on that.

My favorite episode from 2011 was probably "the firefly" - 3x10

I'm reserving judgement as well, but I think so far I've enjoyed this season more than the second half of s3.

Thanks for the best episode nomination suggestions.  I need to get busy on my rewatching!

I enjoyed this past Friday's episode.  The parts with Elizabeth and Peter...*sniff*  I like it was her that was able to bring Walter around.  And that look on Walter's face when he first saw her...*double sniff*

I remember when Alt-Broyles died last season I was so incredibly sad for his loss and how happy I was when he was "alive" again in this season's Amber Universe.  I'm guessing when he dies again we won't be so sad this time...although part of me holds out hope that he isn't really working with Jones but has some other reason for appearing to be working with him.

Speaking of Jones, I really need to go back and watch Season 1 again to brush up.

This show must be an actor's dream with not being locked into the same character for the entire show but getting to play multiple variations on the same theme.

I know, right?  I mean, Season 1 was such a different animal from where the show ultimately ended up...
