Where was the BwB party? I would've liked to have dropped in at least for a while.

Great to meet more BwBers last night. Hopefully see you in London at the next meeting!

Is there anything planned for tonight - pub dinner etc? If so, could we post details here so people don't miss out?

I even met some of you guys at octocon 2010.

What pebble said. If you make yourself known to one of us early on you'll be in the know about any events. There were a fair few of us there this weekend who were at Octocon 2010, yes.

We got home last night: great con, great party. Lovely to meet some new folks and some others I hadn't seen for a year or two (or more, in some cases). Big shout-outs to Jo for organising stuff and to the guys who manned the bar on Saturday, who did an incredible job: also to Wert for an excellent interview with George on Sunday. And for that matter to Peadar, Neal, pebs (costume winner), tenalpia, Malt, Mina (who gave the 'Women in Westeros' panel hell), Targh, Jon, Billy J, Sean, Nat and the PwwP, John and Gail, Dunhallym, Ser MG, and too many more. Also to George and Parris for giving us so much of their time: was lovely to see you guys - and to the people who organised the kids' programme and the games room, which meant I had spare time to spend with all of the above...

Very sad not to have made the episode watch - hope you all had fun last night!

I'll be uploading more pics soon.

thankyou everyone who attended the Con and made it a wonderful experiance.  See most? of you at TitanCon in september.  Thank you all again for those wonderfull people who gave me their Hall Passes  - I won CHOCOLATE

For those that don't know Kissed by Fire and I have a bet.   (she wished for encouragement to stop smoking and a bet helped her before)
Kissed by Fire has to stop smoking by 1st May 2012  or I get to choose a new embarasing Board name and Avatar which she will wear for 1 month.  If she successeds and becomes smokefree then She gets to choose my new Board name and Avatar.   I will soon be starting a thread in which the board can offer their suggestions and encouragement to Kissed.

a quick total no spoiler reveiw of everyone watching the episode. (I won't talk about the show itself or any reactions to things in the episode - that sort of thing should be said elsewhere)

1. we are all crammed into a bar that is almost too small for us all to sit in when we take out the tables and add rows of chair to make it like a mini cinema.
2. we put the TV on to Sky Atlantic about 10 mins before the show with the sound off.
2a) I managed to offload the last of my badges I had with me at the time (I have more in my suitcase) the person sitting next to me claimed an enslaved badge then wanted to know who Peader was and the story behind the badge. he was promtly then he promised to check out his work. I then summoned Peader and a book was sold and signed. I really shoud be on Chocolate commison. - (but then you did srounge several Hall passed for me, thus allowing me to win a yummy easter egg)
3. at about 3 mins we thought it might be a good idea to turn the sound on. This lead to minor panic when the Bar Men where not currently in the bar at the time. Still all was sorted out in plenty of time.
4. Over the adverts it was suggested we should perfom the theme tune when it started. we had a minor pactice right there and then, someone said we where all too early.
5. There was a Thrones announcement made saying it was starting next (with relevent content warnings). everyone cheered. then there where ads for other shows - people where dissapointed here.
6. We all got very loud performing the entire theme music, it was fantastic.
7. After the theme tune no-one said a word or made a sound, as everyone was glued the the screen.
8. A big loud BOO when the adverts started. followed by intense chattering, beer buying and some talking a pee stop. George and Parris arrvied to a big cheer and where seated in time. .durring the Adds a Large plane flew over head and the screen froze image (still had sound) luckily this happened in the ads and the channels where changed from and back resuming the movement of pictures.
9. A cheer went uo when the Thrones image was shown followed by a boo when the mobile phone? sponser add, then lots of ssshing. and back to intense watching as the show resumed.
10. Again a Boo with the ads, the chatting, beer buying ect. a cheer with the Thrones image, sssshing during the mobile sponers add and then intense watching.
11. A big plane flew over head durring the show. yep the image froze, this time it was much quicker to fix the problem. don't think anything important was missed.
12. repeat 10. however durring the adds we had a sky atlantic announcement about whas about to be resumed (thrones) gives contecnt warning (a big cheer from everyone. mentions upcoming shows then some more adds - we all boo and complain this is not the show. before the thrones images is shown and the mobile sponser add.
13. after the end of the show, there was a big disscussion about the episode and what any changes may have mean. theories where made some where debunked. lots of excitemtent and clapping and thanking of George, Parris, Jo and the Bar Staff for all the efforts and everying they have done for us. before people had to leave by minibus back to the hotel (cos the Bar needed to close soon.
14. Someone (you know who you are) wanted another badge but was too lazy to walk out of the bar and cross the street to my car. so will be claiming one at Titaincon. Someone else (again you know who you are) was very proud of their blame Pod Badge - and will be coming to Titan Con or I will tell everyone what he really blames Pod for. And Trust me Pod doesn't want me to tell.
15. I hugged lots of people before I left with MG to drop him at the airpot then made my way back home.

Hey guys,
I'm back home (and at work...yay...)
Successfully managed to get back to London City Airport on time (it took me 2 hours, with pretty good connection times). Fortunately, I flew with CityJet, as our dear beloved Luxair had one plane break down at the airport, and the one supposed to fly back at 19:40 didn't show up either, at least not while I was there.

I really enjoyed Eastercon, and it was great to see you all again, respectively, meet you for the first time. :grouphug: to all :)

Many thanks to lord jo and the others who did a great job organising and helping.

This was my first bwb meet since oxford 2007 so it was good to see some familiar faces, as well as some new ones.  Sad that i wasnt able to stay for the episode, but it'll give me something to watch tonight.  It'll also be good to rediscover fruit, and return MaccyD's to the boycott list.

I made it back alright too, unfortunately I couldn't stay for the episode viewing.
It was really great to meet you all (again or not). I had a lot of fun. Special thanks to Lord Jo and all those who helped organizing the BWB events, and see you next time, I hope not in too long!

Also home last night, after watching the episode, which was great - humming the theme tune, booing the advert breaks, and we got to blame Pod. There were heart in mouth moments too, when planes flew nearby and buggered the Sky signal. Good stuff.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone for making us feel so included, especially those of you who've been doing this for years now and could easily ignore the newbies! George and Parris were fantastic too. You're all a lovely bunch of people and I'll see many of you at Titancon if not even sooner - I live in greater london anyway, so I'm always about centrally and am happy to travel.

I was very glad I got to geek out with John & (briefly) Gail, excellent folk. David Anthony Durham was very nice too.

And finally: plot holes boo, Women of Westeros yay (but also boo).

Eastercon was a great success. Congratulations to Gaspode and the rest of the committee for a great convention well run.

We had a really successful promotion for TitanCon with lots of enquiries at the fan table, many leaflets taken and a lot of interest generated. The panel on Saturday with Miltos Yerolemou and John Bradley West gave us a big boost so thanks to Lord Jo for organising that. It was also great to see Gethin Anthony and Natalie Tena later that evening. All of the band members from Molotov Jukbox joined Natalie at the con along with their manager but they did not bring their instruments so they didn't play anything for us sadly. But we did have a couple of other guitar players invited by Jo who provided some entertainment along with stand-up comic and author Lord Jack Bombardier Monster Hunter (I'm sure there's a bit more to that title but I don't recall the whole thing).

Jo had been told that we had the room for our party until 2.00 am but around 1.30 Gaspode came upstairs to tell us we were supposed to be out of there by midnight. It was actually 3.45 am when we finally left the room. I mentioned this to Sophie Turner yesterday when she asked me how the party went, she was suitably impressed by the BWB's reputation to party hard.

During our party clean up the bar staff who had done an incredible job all night long poured all the half finished drinks into these two big metal bowls we had been using for ice. They were very full. JonPot (friend of Targh) and Eira were going to carry them to the nearest toilet to pour them out. I went along to hold the doors open for them. We decided to use the men's toilets so upon reaching the door I took the bowl from Eira but now she had to open the doors for us. We get inside and discover the toilet seats are down. "Eira, Eira" we call "we need you to lift up the toilet seats". So she comes into the men's room, luckily there is no one else around, and she lifts the seats. JonPot starts pouring his bowl away and as I start doing the same in the next cubicle over there is a loud clang. "Oh shit there was a spoon in the bottom of there" says JonPot. Lucky otherwise I would have tipped the spoon from my bowl down the toilet as well. JonPot decides there is no way he is putting his hand down the toilet to get the spoon out and so Eira gets in there, hand down the bog and pulls out the spoon thus earning herself the title Eira Spoonfisher. She spent ten minutes washing her hands, there is not enough soap in all the world.

Congratulations to Pebble on winning the hall costume contest (as opposed to the masquerade which is different). I also need to thank Pebble for speaking to one of the dealers who will be taking SIX tables at TitanCon selling all sorts of stuff including a huge range of HBO Game of Thrones merchandise. You'll be even more excited to hear that they get their stuff from HBO USA so they will be stocking all the products you can't actually get in the HBO UK store. This was exactly the kind of dealer we were hoping to attract so that's fantastic.

We had been hoping that Sophie would stick around yesterday evening for the episode viewing but she had to get back home. Probably a good thing given the "rather rude" (her words not mine) content of the episode. As Pebble stated above the viewing was great fun. I'm sure the bar staff thought we were all completely insane as we sung along with the theme tune and then went so deathly silent throughout the episode. Any fears that some asshat would talk throughout the episode were completely unfounded and it was good timing that a late running George & Parris arrived during the first advert break. I'm really glad this was a great episode with very few controversial changes (apart from the whole Yara/Asha thing but we knew about that a long time ago) and seeing this episode with so many other awesome fans made for a great experience. Wish we could do it every week.

As always the end of the convention came too quickly and as always there were many people I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to. I got a hug from Mina via Pebble, sorry I missed you leaving, and also Alytha who I missed by just a couple of minutes after getting back from lunch yesterday. See some of you folks in Chicago, some of you at TitanCon and maybe some others at London BWB meet ups through the rest of this year. We'll try and arrange one for the end of season two so stay tuned to the BWB section for announcements about that.

We are now back home and crashing out - MCGeek in front of Mass Effect 3, me in front of my PC.

Despite the Con-Busy, I think I managed to say hi to most of the attending BWB, and actually attended some panels at the rate of at least two a day between doing fun stuff behind the scenes.  It was a fantastic con, and now I'm really looking forward to Redemption next year and Eastercon and Worldcon the following year (we're not going to Bradford).  The committee did a marvellous job pre- and during-con, so yay to them.  (For those who aren't aware there was a GOT screening at the dead dog too, which I think Lindsey and Gaspode put together at late notice.)

I got back earlier today, still quite tired. It was a lot of fun, everything seemed to go well. The panels I went to at the convention were all good, particularly interesting were the reading, the GRRM Q&A, and There's a hole in my plot. The Just a Minute panel was also very amusing. The pub quiz was also fun, despite being very difficult - I think we did well to get over 50%, although we did get beaten by the rival BWB team. I didn't go to the infamous Women of Westeros panel, I'm still not sure if I was lucky, or if I missed out on something that will be discussed for a long time to come.

Thanks to Jo and all the rest of the people who helped with organising the BWB events, particularly the Saturday party and the Monday screening. Also thanks to Gaspode and the rest of the Eastercon organisers, it seemed to be a well-run convention.

Defo!!! I tried, but the dude ignored me for the entire fricking panel! I ambushed him on the way out, to no avail. He was so set in his ways he just wouldn't listen to reason.

Though the Bar did refuse to take the last group of us in the mini-bus (as it was 10:45 when GRRM, Parris, Jo and Co. left), so remaining few went on a quest for buses/taxis. And I still maintain it wasn't -that- far. We could have walked it! :P

:D

But yeah, the Bar were very awesome and welcoming to us, apart from that little hiccup. Big props to Jo for organising it.

Actually, big props to Jo for all sorts - the BWB party, the Cast Panel...........damn bloody brilliant! :D

Guess this isn't the time to mention that I promised (being the kind, good hearted person I am :D) to explain the context of that remark if indeed they were blackmailed with it.

Though truth be told, I'm not sure whether it would actually help. I mean, hard surfaces, tissues.......it might just make it worse.

There's a hole in my plot was fricking hilarious. And I do feel that you missed out by not attending the illuminating conversation that was the Women of Westeros panel. coughsarcasmcough.

(For those interested, and you know who you are and what I mean, no I haven't found the blog/website yet. Don't think it exists. I shall keep trying.)

But yeah, apologies for the people who bore the brunt of my rant about that panel. Not my fault he was such a twerp.

And the quiz made me feel epically stupid. But Team Though All Men Do Despise Us rules!!!

(over the BWB teams at least. :D)

But yeah, I had an absolute brilliant time. It was awesome meeting some/most people for the first time, and seeing others I'd met at TitanCon again. Next time I'm staying in the Con hotel so I can stay later to the parties/get togethers. I'm reliably......or not so reliably depending on his sobriety at the time...... told that the Monday night gathering in the bar went on into the early hours. I'm rather inclined to believe it true, as this possibly-drunken encounter occured at Heathrow Central Bus Station at about 6:40 this morning whilst waiting for my coach home.

Proud member and co-creator of team 'Though All Men Do Despise Us' here - can't believe I didn't include that in my post. We should get bowling shirts made or something, because bowling shirts are somehow relevant to quiz teams.
