I've no preference, not having previously been to either pub. And indeed it'll be quite busy around town.

Either place is fine with me, But, If I was forced to choose I would pick The Stag's Head. Anyone have any idea what time we'r meeting at?

I've only just discovered this thread, and I'd love to join up, but I cannot make it that night    (or after, as I'm off skiing the next day).


A suggestion though: as has been pointed out, the pubs will be very busy that evening. The Stag's Head is always jammed of a Friday. Maybe if some part of the group is able to get out to the venue early-ish, you can stake out a table to beat the crowds later? (This worked for a group I was with in Sweeney Mongrel's last month).

Stag's head is fine by me.  We get in at around noon so early/late doesn't bother me.  When do Irish people usually go out?

On a Friday before a holiday weekend, it could be rather early.   I imagine things will be busy before 5 anyhow.  I'd like to say I will get there early to grab a table but taking the last month as an example, I will be doing very well to get there by 6.  I work up in the airport, so I have to travel in.

Is McDaid's likely to be as busy as Stag's Head?  Probably I suppose.

Tormund, will you have an active mobile phone in Ireland?  Worse comes to worse and it is completely chockers, we could try to find another pub on the day.  So if I have people's phone numbers, I can at least text/ring them with an alternative destination.  There are lots of pubs anyhow, so we never have to walk far.  The only numbers I have at the moment are Peadar's and Renya's though.

OTOH, if somebody doesn't mind getting in early and maybe waiting a bit for others to join, that works too.

I will probably pick up a burner phone at the airport if I can.  I'll see about posting the number here when I find some wifi for the laptop.   I'll try to check the board for PM's or whatnot as well.

I would volunteer as I have theday off, but I've people coming to lay carpets and deliver a dishwasher, neither of whom have given a definite time. Ill try and hit the Stags for 4:30 if I can. I will probably have a hardback copy of The Brides of Rollrock Island. Ill pm Pod my mobile too.

I reckon this weekend will be mental no matter what given the Bank Holiday.

I've been looking under "news" for the Happy St. Patrick's Day thread but I didn't see one, so WTH, Happy St. Padraig's day if anyone is listening.  I assume by now you are all very happily drunk under a table, in a ditch, on the bathroom floor or somewhere else, jeez, hopefully in a bed with another person of the gender of choice.  So please accept my apologies for lateness.  Should of done this before I went to bed.  I'll go off later today and drink something green and toast the Irish branch of the BWB.   Poor lil emo, probably working hard the last 24 hours!

It was a great night. I had a bit of trouble on the way home. I missed my train by five minutes and ended up having to crash on a friend's sofa. Just got home twenty minutes ago.
