Personally, I think it's going to be Daenerys... the whole "Azor Ahai reborn" thing keeps popping up (he's supposed to be destined to take the Iron Throne), and Melisandre is convinced it's Stannis, but I think she's wrong. I mean, come on.

The next Azor Ahai is going to be reborn in fire, under a bloody sky (the day Dany emerged from the fires as the Unburnt, the blood-red comet appeared in the sky)... Melisandre keeps bugging Stannis to burn someone with King's blood, so that he can "wake stone dragons" (Dany burnt Khal Drogo, her king, the day her dragon eggs -- which everybody said "time had turned to stone" -- hatched)... then there's the whole part where Azor Ahai tempered his blade by thrusting it through the chest of his wife NIssa Nissa. Well, Dany did smother Drogo to death with a pillow, right? Another reason Melisandre thinks Stannis is Azor Ahai reborn is because he has some Targaryen blood in him... obviously, Dany is a pure-blooded Targaryen. It just seems like it all matches up too well. I think she's destined to take the iron throne.

Well the person with the strongest claim to the Iron Throne without conquest would be Stannis Baratheon, because his brother sat the throne before him and he had no true born sons or daughters.  The Targaryens have no true claim to the Iron Throne because Aerys lost the Iron Throne when he lost the war, just like they had no claim to the Seven Kingdoms before they won it through conquest with Aegon the Conqueror.  But in terms of claim to the Iron Throne through conquest there are Dany and Aegon both wanting to claim back the throne that they believe belongs to them.  Not even going to mention Tommen the boy king, because now Cersei isn't being restrained by Ser Kevan she'll go loopy with Ser Robert Strong as her pawn and start killing people left right and centre.

Oh and people who believe that Jon has a claim to the throne, please be quiet.  First of all he is a bastard, no denying that even if Rhaegar wanted to marry Lyanna, he couldn't because he was already married to Elia of Dorne.  If a bastard could claim the throne then Robert's bastards would come running!

Personally, though, I believe that Aegon is going to come close to winning the throne with people flocking to him... That is until Dany sweeps in with her dragons and people, hearing of their terrible power will bend the knee to her and she will win the throne, after a short but bloody conquest.

I think one must be very persuasive to take Jon Snow away from the Wall to sit the Iron Throne. Though I do believe the truth to his birth will be of great importance further on.

I think Dany will en on the throne, but with two other people as the saying says "a dragon needs 3 heads".

But, I doubt that the game of thrones will be any less bloody or unpeacefull nomatter who the players are.

(Brienne and Jaime as the ruling couple...)

YOU GUYS KNOW NOTHING! HODOR SHOULD SIT ON THE IRON THRONE.

LOLJK I think Dany should seat, this makes a lot of sense, and it would be one great twist plot...

I don't think that anyone should sit on the Iron Throne; it's an abhorrent seat.

After finishing AFFC, I'm probably feeling more confused about this than before.
What I do know, is that I wanted Robb to win but I was totally wrong. And I have no doubt that Petyr is the best player. I have grown to love him, but I have the feeling that he won't make it and I just can't imagine him as the king.

I have to agree with all of you who want Stannis, he is the strongest option right now, at least for me. However, I think everything Stannis does is because either Melisandre or Davos told him to do it. That's not a bad thing, because practically all of their decisions have been very wise. So yeah, I don't have a problem if they help him to win the Throne, but I want Stannis to maybe become stronger by himself, if that even makes sense. I'll have to wait and see what happens in ADWD.

Also, yes I agree with the Azor Ahai thing, it's pretty obvious that it is Daenerys. I love her character, but I'm still not sure if I do want her to rule the Seven Kingdoms. Again, I'll wait until I finish ADWD. Although I already have a few ideas of what will happen with her, a song of ice and fire... we'll see.

HODOR!
It would be a lot safer than having Joffrey as king of the Seven Kingdoms. All he would say is Hodor and the council would interpret it to their own purpose.

I would like to see a Lannister there, but I doubt it will happen, so I'll settle for Stannis.
Definitiely not Jon and/or Dany, though.

Not jon or dany they both are soft and they care a lot a king should be cold and uncaring
Does anyone see jon killing someone he likes or cares (example: sam) for treason like robb killed his.
Dany is still a child and i get bored reading her POV.

Even if Jon is a targ son he is still a Bastard and Dany is still a girl ( do u think the age they are in will bow to a women). Even with her dragons

Jon is still a bastard, yes, so I would understand that people wouldn't accept him for their king. Daenerys though, she wouldn't just be a girl with dragons, but a conqueror. That could win her the respect needed..

The rightful King / Queen is whomever claims the thing and holds baseborn or not.

"When Adam dug and Eve spun, who was then the gentlemen?"

I was rooting for Robb like hell, the red wedding left me short of breath and angry at GRRM!

I think at some point the characters need to lower expectations - Robb / Jon should be happy to rule north as a warden, Stannis in Stormlands (gladly loyal to Dany as he regonises the right as he so insists on for himself), Tywin and Co should've been happy with the West and the Ironmen can be constrained to their poxy island!

But hey it wouldn't be as dramatic if everyone was happy to take lower positions!

Should be house Baratheon or Targaryen... Keeping in mind that they both reached the iron throne through plotting, rebellion and crimes.

I would prefer Stannis to Dany because he knows more of Westeros and has much more experience in war and in leadership... Dany is a little girl (it is her dragons that people fear, not her)
